Calling All PRV (Piano Roll View) Users

Do you find yourself entering PRV notes by hand. If you don't have an outboard triggering device, like a real synth, then you may be doing this a lot. I am.

What think you of this idea?

Using the PRV piano keys as your triggering device to "tap record" notes while a song is playing.

Once a soft synth is loaded and set up, you can hear it's sound when clicking on the keys in the PRV's left pane.

Currently, when there are already notes in the track, clicking a key will "select" all the notes of that key.

I like that feature a lot and don't want to lose it. But one day I was playing a song and tapping out drum notes on the keys that I wanted to lay down and thought 'wouldn't it be cool if the notes I just played actually appeared!' The notes recorded would be as long as you hold the key down.

I think this would enable one to lay notes down much quicker than inserting each note by hand.

I don't record without a keyboard that often, but I like this idea!

A separate horizontal virtual keyboard in its own window would be even better.

I love the idea. Most of my time in a project is spent completing drum tracks in PRV.

Or you could install one of the many virtual midi keyboards that are available for free...

Or ... Set a preference for (1) virtual keyboard or (2) real keyboard.  Then when entering the piano roll view the bottom two rows of the preferred keyboad becomes a midi keyboard; exit prv and the keyboard returns to alphanumeric entry.
