midi file help- save as type 1

I'm doing a midi project for a guy that uses midi backing tracks. It's four separate tracks of midi; drums, bass, piano, and violin.
I've never done one of these things, he needs a type 1 midi file. I can save the project as a type 1 file but if I try to export the tracks as a type 1 file the "Export midi" option is greyed out.
Can anybody help me out on this? I'd really appreciate it!

It needs to be saved as a MIDI file. The only export option is for individual MIDI clips.
