Synth Rack CPU Useage

I have been wondering if there is a way to disable loaded synths in the Synth Rack such that they are not utilizing any resources when disabled.  I usually load a couple of VSTi, etc... in there and like to have them on hand.  However, I do not use all of them and I usually mute the ones that are not being used.  I believe this muting does not give the CPU and disk resources back to Sonar X3?
Projects still take long to load and I suspect disk cache for samples(if the synth has them) load.  As well, it looks like the CPU meter shows extra resources in use.  I know that, in Cubase, you can deactivate Synths and I see the CPU meter drop.

Is there any way that is convenient besides deleting them from the synth rack?  I would suspect that SONAR X3 should be intelligent enough to manage unused resources that are not in the audio effects chain.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm sure that many people would like to have all the CPU and possibly disk space not being used by plugins that are not in use or not in the audio chain and are sitting idle.

Also, to clarify, I am not talking about "freezing" a track that has a synth associated with it.  This will effectively give back resources when a synth track is frozen(that is great).

If you undock the synth rack, each synth has an on/off button:

The full synth rack is also displayed when docked in the multidock. The abbreviate rack is used when docked on the sides.

OMG!   Now I feel stupid.  I never saw that button because I always kept it docked on side.  My monitor is big enough(I only have one) so I never really felt I should undock it to move it elsewhere.

Thanks so much.  It might have been a while more until I accidentally discovered it by undocking...
Is it possible to turn synth off without undocking?  I right click and do not see an option there.  So, is the only way to turn it off is by multidock or undock?  That is good enough for me, but I am just thinking if SONAR dev team has a quick way for users that prefer keeping things docked on the side.

When the rack is docked on the left/right to disconnect a synth, select the synth in the rack, click the browser synth tab drop down and deselect "Synth Connected."

That worked!  I sort of expected there to be a context sensitive menu item for that when I right clicked on the synth in the right docked panel and there was not.  But, no matter, it is okay for me to do as you suggested and disconnect it from the synth tab menu.

    Thanks again!
