EZDrummer 2 upgrade worth it? need extra EZ kits? Confused.
So I have EZ Drummer 1 which I have not used as I got SD2 (I did the EZDrummer 1 sidegrade to SD2) so I have both products. I have not upgraded to EZ Drummer 2. There are only a few SD addon kits available like Roots & Roots brushes (4-6 addons?). For EZ Drummer there are a BUNCH of EZ kits (10+ addon kits). I own the EZ Indie addon and have used that in SD2. So should I upgrade to EZZ Drummer 2 to get the new features? are there essential addon EZ kits that one should purchase? How big does the installation of all those addon kits take? the SD addon kits seem huge 30+GB each. I know - very confusing. Trust me I am confused. I just don't know if I should invest in all the EZ addon kits and if I will need another hard drive just to manage all the libraries. Any advice? (I have a TON of drum libraries - Battery 3/4, Maschine 1/2 + addons, Stylus RMX+addons, Damage, Heavocity DM-307, Steven Slate SSD4 Platnum, etc etc.). I have a Roland TR-8 hardware device as well.

You can use the EZD kits in Superior Drummer. The kits are much smaller, less than 1GB each.

You do not need to purchase any add-on kits if you decide to upgrade, though what you already own will require to be updated - but those updates are free. EZ 2 comes with two entirely new drum kits - modern and classic (I forget the exact name) which are actually quite impressive if you dig the Toontrack type of drum sound. If I'm not mistaken, EZ Kits are like simpler, smaller versions of the bigger Superior Drummer packages. For exemple, the excellent Nashville EZX is taken from samples/kits in the Music City SDX. Any EZX you purchase can be used in SD (including the new ones included in EZ2). But you can't use SDX's in EZ.

I did not know that Nashville was taken from Music City. well darn. I'll just wait a few weeks for the next big Toontrack sale.

I have EZ Drummer 2 on one of the computers with 8 EZX packs and everything is a little less than 9.5 GB.

I thought they sounded very similar judging from the demos, and it was confirmed by one of the mods on their forums. The SDX gives you 24 Bits, more articulations, more grooves. 1,2 GB vs 12 GB

I do not have SD 2.0 so take this for what it's worth, but I love EZD2. The "tap to find", and "Edit play style" feature and over all ease of creating a complete performance is what most people love about it. You can then copy that midi and use it in SD 2.0. or Addictive drums 2 in my case. I would think it would only be a matter of time before Toontrack incorporates these features into SD, but they are pretty awesome and worth a consideration.

Clintmartin : I just take profit of your post to know if the midi files generated by EZ are well interpreted by Addictive Drums ? Or do you have to edit anyway ? Thanks

I need to get the map from you one of these days, Clint. I'm not sure how to use it, but there must be instructions out there somewhere at the AD site.

Hey, just PM me your e-mail and I'll send it over. It's easy to install. Just open the AD2 map settings window and Drag, drop and save.
