Mr BitFlipper wuz key wrecked.

Melda's MSpectralDynamics is as near as you can get to a 'gooderizer'.

It's on sale in this week's promo.

Seriously though, perhaps Melda's theory is similar to how some color correctionists prefer to work from a flat image?

After we ran over a stage monitor with the band bus, I had subsequent doubts about the benefits of "flat" monitors. But like dub says, "that's not how it works".

I want it, but some times it is good to keep wanting.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

What is it about this that makes it worth $123 [and normally double that]?

Some wanna tell me [us] how this would be best used?

For once I'm having no issues whatsoever controlling my GAS.
So, please, do explain why I/we should part with $123?
    Or better yet; don't.
Then I can move on, "nothing to see here".

That is the most in depth incredible VST review I have ever read. Totally brilliant Dave. Compare it to the one cclarry posted about Ozone which was a page and a half of padding.

You should do an audio version of it- voiced of course by mr smooth voice Dan Worrel :)

Great article. I was actually able to understand a lot of it, that's rare. I like the concept of the plug.

I can see how it would work to make things sound better, in my mind it reminds me of custom guitar nuts and micro tonality. A bunch of little changes that do nothing by themselves but make the entire instrument sound sweeter.

    Thanks for sharing.

I have the Mastering Bundle (I find it indispensable for, well, mastering) but I've largely eschewed the MSpectralDynamics plugin because I didn't know what it was for.

A couple of weeks ago I dropped in on the Bass guitar track just for kicks (I had nothing to lose, the bass track wasn't sitting right and I was planning to tweak it). What BitFlipper describes in his article is exactly what I experienced: The Bass suddenly sounded great in the mix. I was embarrassed that it was so much better and I really had no idea why.

I know this sounds like one of those stupid fake endorsements... but "I used it and I couldn't believe what it did to my Bass track" - some random audio tech

Definitely worth a look. Only you can say if it is worth the $$.

For anyone who has read the MSpectralDynamics documentation, they'll almost certainly be even more impressed at what a remarkable job Dave did in demystifying this unique and way-off-the-beaten-path effect.  I completely agree: totally brilliant.

I admit it, and no disrespect intended, I read the soundbyte article and thought it was comprehensive and excellent. Then I thought, "why the heck would I want a plug in
    that does that?".

I like the fact that my mixes are expressions of my mixing, my "sensibility", or my interests.

The idea of embracing auto mollify-cation seems counter to my interest in crafting expressions that illustrate how I "hear" the balance of an arrangement.

    I know what you mean.

I hate when I put EQ and compressors and reverb and etc. that mollify-cate...

    oh, never mind.

I hear ya, Mike. I applaud and share your minimalist instincts. You're absolutely right that none of these fancy-shmanzy tools are necessary to make a good mix.

But look at it this way...technically, you don't need a master bus limiter, either. But you use one, because it makes everything easier. It's like that.
