Clean install of X3 on brand new laptop with 2 x SSDs - tips?

Is there anything I should be aware of to get the maximum performance with regards to which drives to use to install and store files?
Thanks in advance for any input/ideas

Since you are not dealing with spinning disks the issue of separate drives for apps and audio projects is not critical. Doubt you are going to experience any disk related performance issues. May want to move samples over to the second drive so the OS drive does not fill up as fast.

Are you aware of the Samsung 840 EVO bug? There is a work around and for samples I think you'll want to use it.

I bought a 500 GB 840 EVO a couple weeks ago and then saw a report of the bug. I returned it and got a Radeon R7 Series.

Hey thanks for that, I just installed the 840 EVO as the main drive in my DAW. Already downloaded the fix.

Many thanks, especially about the SSD bug!
You would think that people who build laptops and computers for a living should know about these things. I have sent them a message and asked if they already installed the fix as I actually ordered the laptop on the day that they released the fix!
I also downloaded the fix but I will wait for a reply from the manufacturer first.
    Thanks again.

I would hope so. I'm a SW engineer and I saw it in a trade email/newsletter.

Well thanks for the heads up, I just ran it last night and it was pretty straight forward. I also posted this in the computer forum so more folks will be aware. Plenty chimed in when I announced I was ordering the 840 EVO and said they had that drive and gave it a thumbs up.

The thing is, this is the kind of issue you would be totally unaware of because it happens later down the road.  Last thing on my mind would be to check for firmware updates for a hard drive,, this is a new thing now..old drives either worked or didn't.
Samsung was not making a big deal out of it on the support page, it was down near the bottom and said very little about it being a big problem.
Any how,  big thanks to rsinger for this.
