Considering Buying Izotope Ozone. Does it have a lot more than Sonar X3 Producer Modules?

I am considering purchasing Izotope Ozone and some other software packages.  I purchased a Video Tutorial Package from ADSR Sounds on Mixing/Mastering.  In the tutorials they talk about 4 Software Programs that are a must for getting the best Mix/Master.  The items they listed were:
 
1) Izotope Ozone (for mastering and processing)
2) Dada Life Sausage Fattener (fattener)
3) Camelaudio-Camel Crusher (distortion or tube compression)
4) Sonox Oxford Transmod/Master (manipulating transients)
 
Are any of these products duplicated in Sonar X3 Producer? And what are your thoughts.

    Sausage Fattener is a a "must-have"? That's hilarious. A fun toy, but quite non-essential.
     
    CamelCrusher is a good distortion plugin (I use it often), but also not a must-have.
     
    A transient shaper is good to have but not essential, and there are less-expensive equivalents to Transmod that don't require an iLok. MTransient from Meldaproduction and TransReckon from eaReckon are two of the best.
     
    Up until a week ago, I would have pointed to Ozone as the only highly-desirable item on that list, but my enthusiasm for Ozone has been dampened by the new version. But it's still probably the best third-party mastering plugin for beginners.
     
    Frankly, I'd hold off on all of these, save your money and instead concentrate on learning what the bundled tools have to offer. SONAR Producer literally has everything you need already. Move on to third-party alternatives only after you've got a really solid handle on the mixing and mastering process.


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Of the ones listed none are really for mastering except Ozone. Mastering is for tweaking and making the sound the best it can be. Not for adding distortion or compressing the heck out of it. 
     
    If that is not in the mix then it shouldn't be added when mastering.

    I'm skeptical of teaching tools that plant such rigid thoughts. The idea those are all must haves is absurd. There are too many top audio engineers who use none of those. The simple answer is no, Ozone does not have a lot more than Sonar. How each of the tools available stacks up against stock Sonar tools is a matter of debate and preference. There are certainly functions available like eq matching in ozone not available in sonar but hsrdly essential. I'm with bit. Spend some time with the tools you bought with Sonar and determine if anything feels lacking before going by a stranger's word who i unfamiliar with your music or workflow.

    Me too. There exist people who simply want answers without the 'why' - these folks might be amenable to this type of advice, but this rigidity leaves no room for artistry. Better to know the how and especially why of choosing a particular course of action or technique (in this case, audio FX), because you'll be better able to master it and move beyond it too.

    Thank you for all of your replies.  I was just ready to walk out the door and buy Ozone 6 when I decided to check one more time on this forum.  Thanks for  your helping me to make a good decision on this.  Decided not to Buy Ozone 6 at this time.  Will take your advice.

    Try some of the mastering presets in the pro channel folder. There are also presets for the most common instruments....see what you think. There are some already made and you can always adjust them to preference.
