I think you full filled your aim my only crit would be that it sound a little left right with nothing filling the void. A little difficult with only two voices but perhaps narrowing the sound stage would accomplish that. I enjoyed though and thanks for sharing.

This sounded very good but slightly sparse(not sure if this is the right word). I feel that there should be one or two instruments more to make it fuller. (How many instrument tracks there was I am not sure but I counted three ). Of course it would make it more complex to do. As it is it's very good but could be a lot better with more instruments. Or perhaps more reverb might help to make the mix fuller. kakku

Hi guys thanks, for listening. John yea it's one of those things, do you make it mono or try and stick to the prescribed formula of classical spacing...I went with the prescribed formula. One of my big problems is I tend to rush...get the idea down, a bit punk rather than really work on things and the dichotomy is I am a perfectionist lol. This took two days to write and mix, so on Friday I sat down and worked out the fugue form and gosh that was hard, I did not understand counterpoint at all. Then I had to work how best to use Notion 3, another head ****. Getting the sequencer section to work within Notion was hard there was no global command, so I had to edit notes individually and the program is 3 years old (I should update) so it is a little buggy. So you put a slur accidental over a phrase and it doesn't really do a great job...you'd be better off slurring the notes individually. Because I was creating and fixing the velocity at the same time, ugh you get the picture. I can improve on this composition 100 % when I upgrade. Not being able to rewire because the program is old is annoying too. Basically the composition is designed for the conservatorium, so they understand where my skill set is now. Because I haven't come through the conservatorium and done all the boring prerequisite stuff, how can anyone write a fugue, understand theory blah blah. This will hopefully prove I can do what I brag about lol. Antti thanks for listening, the problem is it is a Fugue and my first attempt anymore voices and I might not have been able to write it...I only worked out how to write fugues a couple of days ago, it is perhaps one of the hardest forms to write and I have no real formal music training...I did a few weeks at The Conservatorium in Tasmania, but for the most part I'm auto-didactic. If and when I am required to write more music, I will attempt to add more voices. Bach went to seven. On saying that, this piece is in 11/8 and in F#. Ben

Yeah, I think I demanded a bit too much considering you are not yet fully trained in this kind of music which is very demanding if I am not mistaken. Actually I was just going to edit my text a bit less harsh before I noticed you had just answered. kakku

Hopefully I wasn't being too defensive...I was not being defensive I was just explaining my motivations. Again thanks for listening. Ben

I don't think you was defensive. You simply told what you had done which was great. kakku

This is better than the Fugue between the Hatfields and the McCoys! Except the quality of the samples kind of sucks. If you're going to seriously pursue orchestration, which I encourage you to do? It's one of the most rewarding aspects of music... You should consider something better than what you used here. H-

Thanks...I think lol. I can definitely improve those samples too, again the program is over 2 years old and I should have slurred the cello lines more. I honestly don't know what I am doing in regards to composition, as I have just finished honours in music (sonic arts) and if I am lucky a PHD awaits, my supervisor I suppose would guide through the other stuff I need.
