The digital vs physical debate is a different one than the single vs album, though.
I've been saying it for a long time - my preferred option would be 24 Bits .wav files. Over CD, over vinyl, or anything else.
I also dream of having an option to buy music as it sounds right off the stereo bus, before it gets screwed up at Mastering. Trent Reznor offered an audiophile master version of Nine Inch Nails latest album and I wish it's an idea that gets some momentum.
As of today, I still buy CDs and DVDs, but the physical support is nothing more than an annoying byproduct. I unpack the CD, rip it in iTunes, check out the sleeve a bit, realize I'm old and need my glasses, and then put it on a shelf in a closet, most likely never to touch it again unless I have to move it to a different storage space.
