More nit-picking coming... If you agree a price, how can you charge by the hour? $10 per hour doesn't sound like a rate a professional would charge.

I base my project quotes on a $10.00 p/hr rate...I have a really bad habit of undercharging new customers to expand my customer base...thank you! I am a professional when I am working on a project...not so much in these forums... ;) -Shawn

Shawn, With all due respect that website has ugly colors is too cluttered and reminds me of those sites that keep saying "Wait.... there's more". Maybe others like it but it's not my cuppa.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Shawn seems like a nice enough guy, but that site looks like a flashback to the geocities days and there is no way I could imagine paying someone to do that. I'm sure someobody likes it, but I'm with bapu.

konradh Guys, I appreciate all the conversation and suggestions. Someone referred by this forum did reach out to me and I am sending him a requirements doc and mock-up over the week-end for a bid. Just to see, I am also going to ask Network Solutions what the options are. They have custom designers but the last time I reached out, it didn't go well. I asked questions and the guy answered by sending me a brochure that didn't answer any of the questions. Maybe a different person there would be better. FYI, I used to be a software designer at IBM and have spent a lot of years in IT so I do understand writing requirements; balancing scope, cost, and time; and all that other stuff. I also understand that you should always hire a specialist instead of trying to do something that is not in your core skill set. (Same reason I hire a mastering engineer instead of hacking around myself.) I am not schooled in e-commerce; media streaming detecting mobile devices; and all that other stuff that is easy for someone who knows what he/she is doing. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to my US buddies who will be celebrating next week. (I'm a Texan—we celebrate every day.)
Hopefully it will work out for you

Well, that site has distributed thousands of Volumes of 100 tracks for me at profit all around the world and the customers love the product. So I'm not the prettiest, I just work. No offense intended but for whatever reason, I am reminded of that quote by Ethan Tremblay in the movie Due Date: " I got ninety friends on Facebook, twelve of them are pending, but I got ninety friends."

I'm sincerely glad your business is working well, but don't confuse correlation for cause. Your success is not likely to be due to having a great website. You have product that fills a niche at a cheap pricepoint and you excel at self promotion. That's awesome, but a person would be insane to pay for that web design when there are free templates that are visually and functionally better. A business would be wiser to hire you as a consultant for promotion than as a web designer/developer.

Lol..you remind me of a good friend of mine. Your mention of video does bring up another topic. How are you liking Hitfilm? I know a few who have tried demo or got the xpress version when it was offered free last year, but don't know anyone actually using it. I dinked aroind with it a few times but never could get into it.

Konrad, if you haven't already, you might consider a student at a local college studying computer science or similar, go via the department and they should be able to point you at capable people :) good luck!
