demo, need drum approach ideas

demo, need drum approach ideas
"Michael's house"
((link removed))

this is an older demo done with a drum machine...
i'm going to re-do this one from scratch,
and cannot decide if i want to keep an insane driving double kick kind of thing going,
or go a different route...
any ideas?

Insane driving but maybe reduce the kicks a bit in the verses.  Nice song!

YEA,i'm kinda thinking 'implied drums' in areas, but just having syncopated pauses instead...
it's really hard to get that groove across on this kind of song,
the 'purdie shuffle' works great for light open fare,
    it's a tricky thing.

Rob, I'm familiar with the song, I have it, but I don't know what to offer on the drums, except BRING THEM UP.  I would like to FEEL that beat.  They are ther but it seems they should be in your face.  Bass could come up to.  I'm not getting your normal bottom.  Maybe that's what you're going for.  Great performances by you.

gonzo, this is great - as always. The guitar is just wild - love it. For me, the drums are just too frantic - distracts from the overall sound - maybe it's the double kick - but whatever - the drums just seem to overwhelm the tune.

Defo feels like having that shuffle throughout is too much, if fits the part at 1:12 on.

I would opt for something more sparse, with a syncopated kick maybe, eitherway that kick needs be felt more in the main sections.

    Pretty frantic piece of music!

i like the idea of the syncopated kick, more of an 'implied' beat
