Iris 2

and problems with importing Iris 1 patches into Iris 2 even though the specs say you can do it, the converted sounds do not sound the same.
 
Iris 2 also is now bundled with all the extra sounds banks that were previously sold as separate packs - it's all included now with Iris 2.
 
many at KVR Forums are saying that Iris 2 ofr exisiting users is not worth the upgrade.
 
if you a new purchaser then it might be good deal but you have to watch 3rd party Iris 1 patch imports.

I've got Iris 1 and occasionally use it. Rarely, really. It's a great piece of kit but a "single spark plug" as we say round here. I don't see me upgrading. YMMV.

I disagree that Iris is a one-trick pony.  It's my favorite sampler out there and I use it all the time, on almost every song and sometimes many times in a single project (although I agree that it's CPU-heavy -  even on a great machine having multiple instances slows things down).  Maybe the fact that before Iris the only sampler I used was Dropzone has effected how strongly I feel about this one iZotope product, but with Iris I've made sounds I've never heard before - and it's easy to use.
 
Too bad the upgrade isn't more backwards-compatible - that was one of my concerns with the upgrade.  The biggest problem I'm having with the promotional material is that the stuff they are advertising is just more of the same - the sounds they use could be coming out of z3ta - what's happened to the focus on creative freedom (which was the focus of all the Iris (1) promotional material)?
 
Does anyone see anything that indicates that Iris 2 will be less cpu-heavy?

The percussive scratches, bird-like responses, and chirpy-typewriter sounds are Iris tracks.
Ringing tones are z3ta 2.
Bass is real bass.

Iris 2 is getting slammed over on the kvr instrument forum.  Consensus is that it's worth the price for new users, but all the content you've created or bought for the original won't transfer and the features you would hope for in an upgrade aren't there, so not worth the upgrade if you own Iris already.  Not that you should always believe the forum buzz, but that's the consensus, boo on iZotope again.

I demoed Iris 2 last night and was underwhelmed.  While it is an amazing creation, the main thing folks have been clamoring for is real time stretching of a sample across the keyboard... while timing is now fixed so things don't speed up or slow down  as you move to other keys, the chipmonk effect hasn't been touched...there are no formant adjustments, no offline formant processing to render a complete patch...At least in Nectar2 you can create reasonable harmonies... and I was hoping for all sorts of creative possibilities with Iris2...I moved over a vocal and couldn't even go a couple notes up the keyboard without it sounding ridiculous...
 
I read the entire 30+ pages of kvr discussions... it ain't pretty... and has me rethinking the studio bundle deal...all the patch developers are totally screwed and despite what iZoman says, it appears they've got no real way to migrate patches... and it isn't a totally new product like Dune2 or Zebra3... it's just an incremental improvement...which sloppily broke the link to Iris 1...and no warning was given to developers, unlike the others...
