Slate Revival

Anyone get the free download of Slate's Revival to work? It crashes my X3e when I try to load it in (yes, it is registered on my iLock). I'm wondering if, despite being unable to find anything specifically stating it on the Slate website, that the free download of Revival won't work without paying for the VMR (which is a bit rubbish, in my opinion).

Thanks, Rob

Probably worth asking Slate, although it sounds to me like you download the VMR, and get Revival for free.

Even though the license is there you do have to "Activate" it...and doing the one at
plugin launch won't work.  You have to do it in the iLok Manager.

Open the iLok Manager, and you will see the License...right click and select
    Activate...

I have it working and bought the VMR...money well spent I might add...

VMR is a complete no-brainer.  Best channel strip I've tried.

With or without VMR? IOW is it a free, no strings attached download?

It's running fine in mine, too.
You get both the VMR and the Revival for free --- it's the other modules that cost you money. I presume there will be more of them in the future.

    Revival works within Vmr.
It downloads demo licenses for the other plugins.. which you don't have to install.
    vst2 and vst3.

Interesting. The newest update versions of VTM and the VCC wouldn't work in x3e for me (total crash upon loading). I had to install older versions. Considering others have gotten Revival to load properly I'll be giving this one a try. Slates new videos on drum mixing was cool as well. I'm going to watch the new vocal one tonight.

Bandlab Platinum and every other toy I can get my hands on...and yes I'm way in debt over this obsession...

I registered the revival demo in ilok but how do you download the plugin software? I bought VCC on a disc so I have no experience with Slate demos or downloads.

You just download the VMR installer and run it --- all the modules are included in it. While running, it'll ask which modules you want and you check/uncheck the ones you want. Easy piecy.

That's what I'm looking for. The only link I find is the installer for the new ilok program no matter which plugin I want to demo. Where do I find the VMR download? Thanks.

I had the same issue... so I bought it. Was reading a lot of what people were saying about it and comparing it to things like the UAD plugins. Totally worth it for what they are asking. Plus, free iLok2.

So let me get this straight. If I download the VMR demo and Revival, I can use Revival indefinitely however any other VMR modules would need to be purchased. Yes?

Question for those who've tried Revival...

Is it worth the price of an iLok 2?
Does it do anything that Nomad Factory Cosmos doesn't do?

    There are so many "exciter/saturation" plugins...I have Cosmos...it's good...especially for $19...

Revival sounds a little more "analoque/real" to my ears...
Cosmos has more control(s)...and because of that, can be harder to "dial in"...

The real beauty of the VMR is it's low CPU Usage and "Zero" latency according to the
promo...and, if you own VCC, you'll get the VMR VCC module for FREE...

Is it "the be all and end all" of plugins?  No...is it nice?  Yes...

I was pretty impressed with what Revival did....I was able to get a really nice sound on a female lead
vocal in no time...warmed, clarified, and thickened...was quite nice...

The iLok fear has been "vastly exaggerated".  I've had one for years ( 1 & 2 ), and hasn't been much of
    a problem...sometimes "minor" issues.

Some just don't like the idea of "Hard" copy protection, as it can't be cracked.
Some don't like that, to transfer a license, you have to pay a $25 fee.  There will always be some
"reason".  Bottom line, to me, if you're legal, it shouldn't bother you.

BTW, if you buy VMR direct from Slate for $149, the iLok is FREE and you save $49...

I have both and iLok and an eLicenser, which have been just fine...for me...YMMV
