Sonar 8 Studio to Sonar x3 Producer

Hi guys;
My brother has Sonar 8 Studio and I wanted to update it to the latest version as a Christmas present.
Does anyone know if this will be able to upgrade his version of Sonar?

I can see at the bottom it says 'Upgrade from any other SONAR', I just wanted to check whether it has to be a version of Sonar which is producer of whether it can be the studio version.

Thanks for your time guys,
Hantoo.

You want the "Upgrade from any SONAR Studio".  You'll save 40$.

He has to be a registered customer with a store account. They send the best deals in e mails you sign up for. I think one is just ending today. But they always come back.
You only see the best deals when logged on to your store account I think.

This is something I hope all the  vendors would offer: A chance to buy an upgrade software to a registered customer as a gift. This means, without letting the receiver know about the purchase.
Or, of course, a chance to have any software sent to the receivers e-mail paid by me, ready to be registered etc.
I've never seen a web-shop of software where you could give separate "download-when-suitable"adress to someone else, and do the paying with your own info. As far as I'm aware, the info you give on purchasing, is always inevitably attached somehow to the registering or something.
My children often ask what I would want for birthday or Christmas. I can't ask for money to buy plugins, but if I could give names of plugins and they could choose something that fits their budget, that would be very nice.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

May want to check with Cakewalk Sales but I believe upgrades purchased from retailers may be gifted since they are not registered until the redemption code (for downloads) is exercised or, for disks, actually installed.

Scooks answer is the best way to gift software, order the "real" thing, A download coupon would be less appealing as something in a nice box!

I was thinking what would be needed is that anyone of us could purchase a second licence. Most of us have 2 computers and we are allowed that, but what if you did need a 3rd copy to install at say your bands rehearsal studio.
We wouldn't even need the software/media , we already have that.
The second licence would just be a second set of serial numbers and activation code that could be used by anyone. Then registered officially by you or someone else and those numbers are assigned to that person.
