Track Pan Not Updating

I have pan selected in my track edit filter. I manipulate the envelope, I have automation read on but the track pan slider is not updating. This has happened on several occasions, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Does the audio pan when the track plays, even if the pan pot doesn't move? If you vary the pan pot, does the audio pan? Trying to get a handle on whether the issue is about the audio, the pan slider, or both.

Very smart question indeed. I thought that fleetingly at first about using my ears instead of eyes but did not think far enough to try it out. Yes the audio does pan but no fader automation. :) thx

The pan envelope works to pan audio when I move it up or down and the pan slider works on audio also when I move it across and back but they are not connected.

btw, i have a lot of v-vocal waves in my project, 16 vocal tracks and a ton of additional active takes.

Is SONAR in offset automation mode (type O to toggle)?  That would produce the symptoms you describe.

Some people use a key binding to tie O to "none" so they don't enter offset mode accidentally while typing.
