Melodyne - no audio after re-recording clip

I'm encountering a problem when using Melodyne that I hope is just my lack of knowledge of how it works.

Here's my process -
I record a vocal clip. I insert Melodyne in the FX bin of the track and then use it to adjust the tuning. So far so good.
However, I then decide I'll scrap that clip and do a re-take, so I delete the clip from the track. But I can still hear the vocal clip, so I go into Melodyne and select & delete the adjusted notes.
Great, now it's gone, I can't hear anything. So I re-record the vocal take, but now I can't hear the new clip even though I can see it's there.
Can someone please enlighten me as to where I'm going wrong?

Try using Melodyne as Region FX instead of the FX bin. To do so right-click on the clip and load it into Region FX > Melodyne > Create Region FX or select the clip and use the same path from the Track view Region FX menu.

Nope, that doesn't appear to help any. I'm still not hearing the clip, but that's presumably because I still have Melodyne in the FX bin - I have earlier clips in the track which are already edited and I'll lose these edits if I delete Melodyne.

If I drag the clip along the track a bit I can then hear it but of course it will be in the wrong place!
It seems the region from where I've deleted the notes in Melodyne can't now be re-recorded over.

Lesson learnt today is Don't Place Melodyne in the FX Bin

Yup. To preserve your current edits you could apply audio fx and that should render the audio to include whatever processing is in the fx bin. If you want to keep your options open re those edits, clone the track first before applying the fx and keep your original one muted and hidden away incase you want to revisit it.

FWIW I can't remember now if it is a default setting or something I set up myself, but all I do to invoke melodyne is to select the clip and Ctrl+M - magic takes care of the rest. I also have Ctrl+B set up to apply any edits and render the audio once I'm done. Makes it nice and easy.

Yes CTRL+M is the keyboard shortcut for creating a Melodyne Region FX clip http://www.cakewalk.com/D...ion_FX.04.html#1683756
