I quite like (the song) St Anger, but nothing much else on the album.
 
And as for Death Magnetic, it's just too painful to listen to.
 
 

I like some bits of St.Anger - the album - but I always felt as though the album was built into Pro Tools w/ a lot of copy and paste. St. Anger, the song - I agree. It's actually a pretty decent song, imho. 
 
There are potentially interesting ideas, but instead of only picking up the best of them and turning them into something, they just piled them up.
 
Even with proper production, the songs would still be too similar.
 
I think they HAD to go through St. Anger, but, from a musical point of view, it probably should have been shelved. 
 
I dig Death Magnetic for the most part but the production just ruin it.
