Anybody found a good review of the DMG Equilibrium?
Anybody found a good review of the DMG Equilibrium? It seems kinda cool. I like the idea that the guy studied the gain-frequency interaction of lots of analog EQs because I try to practice gain-frequency interaction when I make adjustments with the EQ I use too. I like the full time parameter read out a whole bunch. I like the spectra-graph and it's adjustments. I dig the fact that the filters choices are associated with their traditional names... that seems like a easy way to get more familiar with the implication of filter choices. There's a bunch more too. I feel like I can connect with the developers sentiment when he writes: "For a few years, I've felt like it was time for a revolution in EQ - no more being held back by the bizarre requirement for rack-ears and photorealistic knobs. It's not photos of gear that bring vibe - it's the soul, the curves! So that's what we've built. A surfeit of functionality predicated on the curves of the greatest EQs from times past." I figure I better see if it's been sanctified with an official review before I get too excited.

I'm waiting for an EQ that has no UI whatsoeva. Just randomly put numbers on a grid with no X Y gradient IDs. That's using your ears. (or is it)

That reminds me of an iPhone app I was looking at today. :-)

bapu I'll be on the edge of my seat until we get a review of the review.
It seemed like an informative review. When I finished reading it I realized I hadn't looked to see who wrote it. The information seemed presented in a way that didn't leave me feeling a need to know if the guy was supposed to know what he was talking about. :-) I'll probably read it again.

If you're trying it out and can't figure out some of the non-obvious emulation names, here's what I found:DMG = Dave 4kg = SSL 4K G-Series Ox1-Ox4 = Sony Oxford 110 = Focusrite ISA 110 550 = API 550 88 = Neve 88RS 32 = Harrison 32C Pultec Boost/Cut 250 = Sontec MEP 250 ex 8K2 = Massenberg GML8200 Note that the emulations don't add any distortion, therefore they won't sound exactly like the hardware. It just does the gain-frequency stuff. Here's a quick non-technical review: I own it and like it. It works good. It don't crash.

I've looked at that one before - very slick-looking plugs over at DMG...but man, expensive. I'm a huge fan of DDMF's IIEQPro: http://www.ddmf.eu/product.php?id=0 Best money I ever spent on an EQ.
