Sonar X3 Producer install

Just a couple of quick Q's:
 
1. I have Dim Pro 1.5 and Rapture 1.22; what is best? A custom install deselecting these or a normal install and these will just be overwritten ( I have no  user presets, etc) and not duplicated?
 
2.I have Melodyne Editor 2.1.2 (64 bit). Is there any need to install Melodyne Essential. If I do install Mel. Ess., hopefully, it will not shipwreck my Mel. Ed. as I will still use 8.5 and Celemony for most things?
 
3. I'm making some drum tracks for my students and will try to use Addictive Drums for the fun of it ( I primarily use EZ Drummer). I understand I register this separately at the Addictive home site?

 The thing about Melodyne is you need to install the VST3 version to get full functionality in X3. This can be done by going into the Windows Control Panel > Programs and right-click on Melodyne Singletrack, select change from the menu. In the Melodyne Installer, select Modify and install 64bit VST3 version of Melodyne.

However, I don't understand what you are saying about Melodyne.
 
First of all, doing this will not change my 8.5 setup with melodyne Editor, correct? I use this all the time and need this.
 
2nd of all, if the above is true and my 8.5 / melodyne setup is safe, I would like to install the X3 / VST3 as you suggest, but, I do not understand you. Is what you are suggesting AFTER the initial install, then go into add / remove programs, right click / change, etc. or BEFORE.

Adding Melodyne VST3 does not affect your existing setup. It is just another plug-in format. Adding the format can be done at any time before running the VST reset and rescan. When I launch the standalone version of Melodyne the about screen shows Melodyne editor 2.1.2 (64-bit). In X3, you can continue to use Melodyne like you always have but there is a new feature which takes advantage of the VST3 format. You should investigate how to use Melodyne as a Region FX (the new feature).

Yes. you need the VST3 version of singletrack.
One thing about VST3 plug-ins is there is no need to worry about where they go. The location is defined in the VST3 specification. This why installers do not have a way to specify a path for VST3 plug-ins. All 64bit VST plug-ins must go in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3"
 
In X3, you may notice the VST3 path is already in your VST scan path in preferences, along with the default Vstplugins path.
