I have. At a music festival a few years back, there was a Human Jukebox, 4 piece band crammed in a box with a window, and as you can imagine, you put money in a chose from a set of songs.

I bought BIAB Pro quite recently (never tried it before)...I think it was the 2014 version though. Not installed it yet, doubtless I'll get around to it at some point :-)
The price seemed very reasonable for a chunk of useful music s/w, $129 or your regional equivalent (circa £80).
I also asked PG Music whether it could be installed on > 1 computer (this info doesn't appear in their FAQ AFAICT); you can install it on up to 3 computers which is pretty handy.

BIAB is a great tool, IMO to help write songs with, or if you need a "band" to back you up for playing live and you're the only one playing.
I use it as a base to help write the song, then I use it in sonar to write temporary backing tracks to fill in while I or others I am collaborating with create the real tracks for the song. for example, I'll create the song in BIAB, then put the drums, an acoustic, maybe an electric and maybe a piano track from BIAB into sonar and then share the project with my collaborators. they use that project to play along with to record their part of the project. then when I get their real tracks, I delete the BIAB tracks and we have a real song to mix.
it's quite powerful, actually, even if it looks clunky and amateurish.
I'm still on BIAB 2012, tho, I've not upgraded for a few years now.

Woah... packages from 129.00 to 779.00, as usual, "too much is not enough". Do you think I could get a price break if I tell them I don't want any dubstep or hip hop?
Sirius though... how do you know which one you would want? I need something else I don't have time to use. However, I do see the light at the end of the tunnel now and I think I hear a whistle of some sort.

It looks like Eli is using the 2014 version.
I have the 2014 Everything Pak plus some other solo sets and none of it shows up in my account on the PG website.
I find the entire upgrade thing totally confusing from their descriptions of what you get.
If I upgrade I will have to spend a lot of time trying to ensure I am not paying money to receive things I already own. I think they could make things more clear about what your upgrade paths are and what 'New Stuff' you are really getting for your money. Not really enthused about pursuing this way of doing business.
I may just get the simple 2015 upgrade, the $10 j-bridge deal and passing on the other stuff.

So, somewhat disappointing that they apparently let issues slide for years without addressing them. However, as a means to quickly generate a backing track to practice along with, in a great many styles and any chord progression you want, it's ideal. I wouldn't call it a composition tool though.

I agree they lean toward CW & Jazz, especially Jazz, IMO. I wish they would do some more variation in styles and more in each style. as far as the bug, I'd contact their tech support. once you do that, you can even point them to the thread in their forum and if it is reproducible on their end, they'll usually get it fixed in the next release. but reporting it on the forum doesn't necessarily do anything. just like here...

off topic..sorry....There was a competitor out there of BIAB software, called "Jammer Pro"...Not sure if they are still out there?...But I found it more rock and blues oriented, when I played with it, way back in time, and was only midi based when I played with it.....Not saying it does the real band mp3 sound libraries, like BIAB does now, as I have not looked into it since early 1990's, I have no clue what Jammer Pro does now.....But it does generate a band for backing tracks. So there are alternatives that move into other styles other than Jazz, and Country...and Computer generated music. Just thought I'd put that out. Regards.

I contacted their online chat, to ask my questions, and in very little time they had me fixed up. I received my link and password immediately and the DL process began. The installs went without issue and I am all setup now.

Does anyone have the audiophile version? Is the extra price justified? the drums and cymbals (especially) on the compressed version really sound bad to my ears. Does the stretching component work better with the uncompressed files?

Hi Tom, I do not have the audiophile version, I just couldn't justify spending that much on it, especially if I'm not using it for final product anyway. I know there are some sonar users who have it, Matt Finley, comes to mind, but I'm not sure that's his user name on the sonar forums. thanks. I did just that a few years back.
The answers I received from the biab forum is a 'subtle' difference;
where biab really loses quality in my opinion is when you 'stretch' the audio. When you stay close to the beats per minute of each sound, the quality is pretty good.
So, I'm wondering if the audiofile version will stretch the files with less degradation of the original sample.

I agree that it loses quality when you stretch the audio. but I don't know if the audiophile version has a better "elasticity" than the compressed files or not.
