How About a "Skins Exchange" Area?
Given how easily so many Cakewalk plug-ins can be re-skinned, it might be cool to have a place where people can upload/download new skins. There are some pretty creative folks here, so this could be a cool "community project." There could even be a "get skins" entry under the "Help" tab in the program to connect directly to where the skins live.

It might be encouragble to create a library or database of programs/tools that people have created too. drum maps could be shared.. instrument definition files .. cal scripts..
Sonar's community is a very creative one ... and cakewalk could provide a better platform for sharing .. thus enhancing the attractiveness of the program.
Some games have massive modding communities which still respect the Ip rules of the original program.

This was actually available for a couple of years, but I don't see the link to the presets area anymore. I thought they were going to have a permanent section for people to upload/download presets (great idea). I still have the original presets that were offered initially and do use them regularly. I agree, this would good to have (again).

I recognize there are some folks that would enjoy tricking out their look. Craig's idea would suit that inclination.
Personally, I would prefer a good looking standard user interface (I think Sonar has a good one presently in X3 and I assume it will look better in future releases). A good looking user interface that the Sonar developers commit to and works well for the product. Introducing customizations like Craig has suggested would be non appealing and frustrating to me. But that's my use case, where I like the developers to do the work for me rather than leaving it to me to fix a bad interface.
So I prefer the developers to focus on making a great interface out of the box, rather than getting distracted with creating UI skin options.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.
