Drumcore 4 - the continuing saga
This could rival Sampletank 3 for delays in release and at least IK did not take preorders before they had a release date. Preorders for Drumcore 4 were taken almost a year ago. From todays update. The DrumCore 4 Mac Beta 2 is looking incredible with lots of fixes and improvements. A couple more fixes and we'll be able to send it to most Mac beta testers who have pre-ordered DrumCore 4 Prime Flash and Ultra. Prior estimated release dates were listed as subject to change, and change it has. We apologize for the delay, and how difficult the wait is for many of you. A new estimated release date will not be announced due to so many moving targets. Our current team is very capable, working hard, and motivated to ship. We will do all we can to ship as soon as possible.

Unbelievable. My relationship with the company ended when I discovered they couldn't be bothered to write a uninstaller for KitCore.

Glyn, have they offered any compensation to the people who did pre-order and pre-pay?? As you say, at least IK didn't take money upfront!!!!!! Will they refund people who don't want to wait any longer - I'm very glad to i didn't take up the pre order upgrade offer - In fact I've deleted my Kitcore now as it didn't work very well in 64bit machines - shame as I used to like and use it quite a bit at one stage Hope this gets sorted soon Nigel

I got a nice 1940's kit free as a sweetner. I also had the option of having my money refunded but decided to hang on in there. I am just waiting for the lite version so it's not a lot of cash. Those waiting for the full version have quite a bit tied up. Strangly Kitcore is now running on my Win8 PC but I had all sorts of problems on my old DAW due to 64/32 bit bridging issues.

So, I got an email about how you'll be getting Drumcore "soon." How long has it been so far?

i saw on their website that the windows port won't begin until after the mac release. this will be another year. they have offered refunds to anyone that prepaid. "DrumCore 4 beta 2 worked great at NAMM (pictured below), and beta 2 is now in the hands of most Mac beta testers who ordered DrumCore 4 Prime Flash and DrumCore 4 Ultra on external drives who have Pro Tools, Cubase and Logic - Digital Performer and some other Mac users who purchased Flash or Ultra, but did not receive beta 1, will be mailed beta 2 soon. DrumCore 4 will be ported to Windows after Mac." They apparently can't offer the beta via download yet because they are working on the "download server." Unreal. How long should it take to set up an FTP site? 20 minutes?

Where did you see that. Is one year stated anywhere or is that your (probably optimistic) assumption. If they are saying a year it could be 10! Expect Sampletank 4 first! I found this but no mention of a schedule. Betas being Mailed in this Order: 1st Wave - Mac: DrumCore 4 Prime Flash and DrumCore 4 Ultra AAX/VST3/AU Plug-in Beta for 64-bit hosts 2nd Wave - Mac: DrumCore 4 Prime Link AAX/VST3/AU Plug-in Beta for 64-bit hosts 3rd Wave - Windows: DrumCore 4 Prime Link, DrumCore 4 Prime Flash, and DrumCore 4 Ultra AAX/VST3/AU Plug-in Beta for 64-bit hosts 4th Wave - Mac and Windows: DrumCore 4 Lite AAX/VST3/AU Plug-in Beta for 64-bit hosts
There is this blog http://www.sonomawireworks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=79970#p79970 Its is getting beyond the pale. The 1st beta was released 9 months after they started taking pre-orders and we still seem a long way from a release, particulary of the Windows LT version i am waiting on. A few highlights from the development blog Beta 2 is working much better than beta 1 for many testers. They are finding some good bugs It's no secret by now that this has been harder and taken longer than we expected. Here's the final DrumCore 4 packaging that we can't wait to send to DrumCore fans!
They have photos of the packaging! what about finishing the product!

1 year is my own assumption based on the slow Mac process and stated fact that Windows will follow. They have not been able to offer a download for the several months of Mac beta. I think there must be one part time developer working on this based on the speed (again my assumption!)

I fear your assumptions are correct or even over optimistic. I think this has now surpassed the Sampletank 3 debacle At least IK did not accept pre-order until release was imminent. They are still taking pre-orders!!!! The only reason you are not seeing the same sort of ****storm here is because fewer people are affected and there are no Sonoma reps coming in and fueling the flames.

It makes one wonder how they came to get into this situation. If we assume that taking the pre-order money over a year ago was not a con trick, and I am inclined to believe that it was not a deliberate con, how can a project get so hopelessly derailed at the last minute. One think that springs to mind is a key programmer suddenly leaving the company and leaving a raft of poorly documented code. Another is employees deliberately lying to management to cover up problems. Whatever happend neither the customers no the companies owners can be very happy.

It's ridiculous. I bought BFD3 over a year ago, because I got tired of waiting for Drumcore 4. I really wanted Drumcore though, after owning Kitcore for a few years and really liking it. Whatever... They lost a lot of customers over this, me being one.

Two more months. EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm stating that two more months have passed with no release. I was not making a prediction that it would be out in two months.

Where did you hear that? No doubt they have bee hawking it at Musicmesse but I would take any time scale issued or alluded to by Sonoma with a large pinch of salt.

They posted an update on the their forum earlier this month that they just released beta 3 for Mac. From what I have read they have no way to offer the beta via download and they ship out USB drives. Insane. Windows port after Mac is done. No way this is out in 2 months.

No, I was stating that two more months *had passed* since the thread had been bumped last (February to April) with still no release. There's no way it's coming out in two months. I'd be a fool to state that.
