[Solved] Converting a track to split mono

I imported an MP3 into Sonar X3e and it's stereo. I want to split the left/right channels to control the volume of each individually. Do I have to re-import or can I split it?

    ...can I split it?

    Select the clip
From the Tracks menu, select Bounce to Track(s)
Choose Tracks as the Source Category
Choose Split Mono as the format

Splitting is something different. It's really converting a track from stereo to split mono

If all you want to do is adjust the volume, use the Channel Tools plug-in and you will have independent control over each channel's level, pan, delay, and phase. Or if you want to make a permanent change, you can use the Process > Apply Effect > Gain option.

    Craig,
do we have the option to split stereo in a way that each side goes to a separate track?

Yes, bounce to track and choose "Split Mono" for Channel Format. The bounce will create two tracks, one with the left and one with the right channel.

Except yours had better text formatting

My main reason for coming into the thread was to mention the alternative of using Channel Tools. By that time, I'd forgotten what was at the beginning...
