What will they do next?
A wish list of sorts, suspicions and expectations from your favourite software developer, what's messing in their arsenal that you'd want to see or hope to see filled. I have XLN's Drums and Keys: They don't have a mallet kit, I think that would be a nice addition. They seemed to have covered most bases, for me apart from this. I seem to recall reading that when they did their percussion kit, it was to replicate a drum kit set up, not provide a complete range of percussion. Due to the restriction in AD2 to their sounds only, I'd like to see them provide a greater range of percussion through their 'kit piece' option, which to a degree they do already. They have Grand, Upright, Rhodesna Electric. Will they add wurlitzer, or something less available like a Clavinet, I can see this suiting there brand Will they add a new instrument, so many sampled guitars, but again I can seee this suiting their brand, and making their range more rounded. Something like Amplesounds, with a guitar and bass. They have already teamed with Peavey to make their own Amp model, so something could be built in to the effects section AAS: They have me baffled, they seem to be so apart from chromophone, they haven't really done a great deal of virtual modelling. Strum built on the string models. They updated the package, but string studio seems more like a organic strings source than truley re-creating. Not a bad thing for some people, but if they were to develope it, they'd have to nail that real sound to make it worth it. So will they go in a new direction. Arturia and Wallander seemed to have covered the virtual brass and wind market. With chromophone that moved into sympathetic resonance, a factor my old piano teacher flatmate complained virtual modelling could never master to make a piano, maybe this is their next step. Would they succeed and make a realistic piano, and one you can draw away from it's authentic sound to create organic sound keys with a different texture. I'm a fan of Esbjorn Svenson Trio, and he used to do things to his piano to de-pianofy it, so maybe their would be an interest in a piano you could mangle and modify to create something that doesn't exist

Scoot I'm a fan of Esbjorn Svenson Trio, and he used to do things to his piano to de-pianofy it, so maybe their would be an interest in a piano you could mangle and modify to create something that doesn't exist i saw HOWE GELB one time, he did some guitar songs, then he wandered over to the baby grand the venue had, sat and had a quick twinkle (not sure of the correct technical term for that thing pianists do when they first sit at a piano) but then stood up again looking slightly puzzled, wandered to the side of the stage, came back with a handful oif cutlery that he dropped inside one end of the piano (lid was up), sat down again, the next twinkle, that end sounded more like a harpsichord while the other remained a piano :-)

maybe he should learn a proper instrument like electric guitar, they never sound like pianos

AAS: Chromaphone 2 with an improved GUI ? I love AAS stuff, String Studio and Chromaphone are so inspirational. And their Lounge Lizard is the best. As for XLN, maybe add another Grand ?

While I doubt it's in the pipeline I would like to see an "Irish bazouki" or octave mandola from Bolder sounds with a similar feature set to their mandolin and banjo.
Orange Tree have a Strat library in the pipeline with the promise of other guitars to follow. I was hoping they would do a Rick 12 string, but Music Lab has got there first.
Developers like Arturia, Korg and GForce seem to have covered most of the classic analog synths of yesteryear. I would expect to see Minimonsta 2 from Arturia in the next year.
NI are probably going to release new versions of Kontakt and Reaktor, probably to coincide with the release of Komplete 11.

I haven't used chromophone yet, but the idea inspires me too. Strings studio never quite did it for me, but I suspect I was asking it the wrong questions. Lounge Lizards has been just what I wanted. I got the Rhodes from XLN, becuas eit was half price and the difference between just the 2 Pianos and getting a third sound was was just 10 dollars. I also didn't get the sound of the electric piano. So I inadvertently gave lounge lizard competition in my set up. I love AAS, but they seem a little quiet, I hope it means some thing is stirring. Why another Grand from XLN, do you feel the previous lacked something. Another grand would have to sound pretty different to be worth it, but then a different sounding Grand in a different sounding room might do it, being the room sound seems a selling point for XLN

I started out with a basstation in about '93 and then the rack version. I loved that synth and pursuing the sound because I understood it, and what it could do. I just striped back to one analogue plug AAS Ultra analogue. I want too understand it before I add another. I striped out all Cakes stuff, no Cakewalk VSTi at all. I had an arturia Mini of somesorts maybe the V, but it wasn't velocity sensitive, so never used. I'd love for one of those companies to make a clear leader to go for. Rather than have a mass of synths, I'd rather 1 or 2 that I knew thoroughly, and what I wanted from them.
