Long shot, but anyone else having Sony Vegas problems since Windows 7 update?

The header says it all. Vegas is usually pretty reliable for me, about the same as SONAR, but it's taken a real hit in the past week...BSODs, crashing upon rendering (that never happened before), and other weirdnesses. I know there are quite a few Vegas users in here; it's kind of "SONAR for Video" so I thought it was worth asking. Or maybe it's poltergeists.

It's probably just operatives from the republic of NK checking for movies to downcloud™ from your SONY directory.

I have Windows 8.1 with Vegas Pro 13 and I have seen no problem with any updates. I am also on the Vegas forum and no one there has reported any problems either. At least not from this situation. This is by no means definitive.

    A roll back might help.

I use Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12 and no issues at all  - I have a dual boot 32 bit and 64 bit machine and it works flawlessly on both  - I use Windows 7 on both set ups

    Hi Craig,

If you haven't already, the first thing I'd do is update your video card driver.
Vegas Pro 13 is been pretty reliable here (at least thus far)... no major issues under Win8.1x64

Thanks everyone. Jim, in theory I have the latest drivers although the ATI web site doesn't make it easy to know for sure...anyway, I think I may have found the problem. The project had an unusually large number of muted clips because I was doing compare and contrast-type stuff. As soon as I deleted those tracks when the project was firmed up, the issues went away. The timing with the Windows updates appears to have been coincidental.

No crashing, but then I don't run 7. The code of the BSOD error can give a clue what it might be. Given that you listed an AMD card, that is my guess. AMD has fail drivers, sadly. When last I used Vegas with an AMD card at work (quite a bit ago) there were all kinds of crashing problems when I had hardware acceleration no. Turning it off fixed the issues. Getting an nVidia card and turning it back on also fixed the issues :).

I have just found that AMD doesn't have solid drivers when you are talking OpenGL/OpenCL. Their DriectX stuff is ok, though still seems to have more issues than nVidia.

FWIW, I've also found New Blue Titler Pro to be a bit flakey.
I've had stability issues when running multiple instances of it.
