I'm a virgin (when it comes to posting tracks in here). Be gentle.

As this track is one of the biggest Sonar projects I've made I figured it would be a good time to lose my cherry and post a link here. There's a couple of Reason Rack Extensions (Propellerhead's proprietary plug-ins) but everything else is Sonar or third party plugins (or a guitar!). Finished off with Ozone 6.
Hopefully one or two of you will have a listen and not be aurally offended!

There's a story behind the track but the intro explains it!

Sounds good.... good licks and playing.

Didn't get the whole dragon donkey thing.... I felt that it detracts from the music.... since there are no other evident lyrics to explain the question or answer it.

The donkey/dragon thing was just something that had bothered me for a bit and I wanted to use that as a song title. If I hadn't added the vocal bits it wouldn't have made sense at all (not that that has ever bothered me in the past!) and it just added another, possibly controversial, element to the "weird" part on the track .
Glad you like the guitar bit(s) and thanks for making the effort.

In answer to the question raised by the title of this tune in my personal experience Dragons tend to consume Donkeys as a form of sustenance, consequently I think the answer is no.

As to the music, which as with Herb I can see no connection with the title, the mix works here, that middle 8 bit is a bit....

    Thanks for sharing.

There's always room for another Englishman here!   Usually I tend to get distracted when a song is longer than 4 minutes.  I listened to the whole thing.  To be honest, I couldn't understand anything that you said in that middle part.  Probably just my ears.  It is a good track.  I basically ignored the title.  Sorry.  It's a good piece of music and I imagined you could make it about something else.  HOWEVER, that's the beauty of Art.  One man's dragon is another man's donkey.

Fairy tales do not tell children that dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed. (GK Chesterton

Cheers you guys. It seems I overestimated how many people have seen a film where a green ogre hangs round with a talking donkey! The concept of the dragon/donkey thing is not due to my wild imagination - it's based on one of the Shrek movies where the donkey finds out he has "little mutant babies" due to his "relations" with a dragon.
There you go, it all makes sense now .

Yeah I've noticed a cymbal or two standing out a teeny bit more than I'd like (now that it's too late!). That's why pros get things mastered by someone else whereas plebs like me try to do it themselves .
Glad you liked the overall mix

    Hi,

Very cool song with lots of interesting elements flowing in and out!

Good composition and excellent playing, I like the synth textures, and especially loved the transition between the clean guitar solo to the wah-wah ripping at the end.

Really good stuff, Grum, thanks for sharing!

Thank you Bob . I'm pleased with the lead guitar part as I did it in all in one hit (adding the FX afterwards). I've learnt that it's best to get in quick and tidy up as necessary rather than labour through 30 takes that just get harder and harder to do!

This is a kick ass song.  Totally got into this, the flow, structure, moving from an electronic dominated crust to a more organic finish.  I really wish the rhythm guitars were up a bit more though.  Really cool stuff here man.

I liked it.  Since this was your, uh, "first time", I'm assuming no dragons or donkeys were harmed in the making of this tune?

Anyhow... I thought it was very cool.  Nice guitar playing throughout, very solid and great tones.  The electronic part was different, but I think it ties the two section together.   Mix-wise it sounds very big here, with a nice wide image.

The electronic section is there to represent the nightmare of the unholy act of copulation between the dragon and the ass. The pleasant part that follows is when they both have a smoke afterwards - not necessarily with cigarettes .
Glad you noticed the width - I do strive to get a wide mix. Thanks for the listen and comment.
