Ryan, can you spare a moment to chip in on my earlier post

Sure. The old store was technically three stores based off different regions and currencies. This resulted in the ability for a single person to technically be recognized as three (or more) entities behind the scenes. We've been cooking up ways to deal with this for years, but its never been that great. If you purchased a product on the USD store and then moved to the UK for example, you would not be able to download that product from the GBP store in most cases.

Single Sign-On merges data that has come from all three stores as well as retail registrations (not purchased on our store) and also Cakewalk On-Demand redemptions made over http://www.cakewalk.com/redeem.

To date, in my opinion its the best thing we've done in years in regards to making the user experience more consistent. We're still migrating some data behind the scenes so anyone sending Feedback, please know it is helpful!

Anyway, the new store really is just one store, so currency isn't tied to a weird login portal anymore. Your old info won't have an impact. Where you live in the world will.

To add, if you purchased something in a particular region and are wondering if this will qualify you for upgrade pricing on the new store... Yes it will. As long as everything migrated to your account properly. If something is missing just let us know so we can fix it.

I hope that sort of helps!

Not touch screen?
Then why all the wasted space?

Not a history?
Why Not?   The "OLD" reasonable interface provided both ownership and purchase dates. How was that wrong?

I did purchase 3 copies of DP.  So why does the new improved display NOT show which is the most current?  How is this useful to me as a customer of CW products?

The new interface is NOT an improvement.

I should not have to scroll five pages. The old display was able to fit most of my purchases from the last 15 years on just over one page with date of purchase in reverse order. This was intelligent design.

The new interface is less useful and wastes more space and requires the user to do more scrolling/clicks.  How is that an improvement?

Why do I have to read a FAQ file to learn why the single login is still not working as a single login?
I log in. And then am told I need to log in again when attempting to get to the store and the SINGLE login credentials are denied!   How is this a single login?

Ok, not getting much help here, but by digging through this thread I found one link to the store buried by Andrew Rossa on page 2 :

http://www.cleverbridge.c.../catalog/catalog.1307/

Otherwise I can end up at the store if I click to buy something, but then have back out of the cart.

Would not a button or menu item leading to the new store be a good idea somewhere on a Cakewalk page ?
And a way to get to My Account without having to first log out ?

I'm having a hard time finding this constructive. I can respect that this is your opinion but am having a hard time figuring out why stating in the way you are is helping. As I mentioned, there are design considerations for future products. Vertically scrolling will make much more sense then horizontally scrolling for products that have a plethora of properties associated with them in the future. The old design would force you to horizontally scroll back and forth for EVERY future product. It would also look pretty odd as a table with empty values for a lot of things. I think it will make more sense soon enough. It will actually save you from scrolling and clicking. Trust me!

As far as SSO login goes, why don't we just talk about what happened instead. You're saying the new store asked you to log in, you tried your Cakewalk SSO credentials and it failed? Can you provide us with the link you clicked that asked you to log in?

The new store looks ok to me. However I would suggest an option to hide the banner at the top so you do not have to scroll down to see things.

2014 brought about the worst in web design with the trend of huge banners and semi-static backgrounds, coupled with endless, endless scrolling. i cant wait for pages to go back to being pages and not vertical Bayeux Tapestries.

You are right, zoom out to 33%, even 50% (ctrl + minus/plus) before going back to 100% and you will see how intrusive the banner layout is and how much more accommodating and digestible the information is when designed to fit on a screen. A store landing page can accommodate a larger banner (like cakewalk.com currently) but not every single page of the store.

Ultimately these are just design trends, and I really dont care as long as everything is functional - but I wish designers would stop using up as much page real-estate as possible just because its free. (the cake store is only a mild offender here).

And the list used to be sorted by date. Now by product.
DP 1.5 is listed three times.
WHICH IS THE LATEST I PURCHASED?????????????

The obvious thing to do here would be to have a drop down for sorting by product/date. And perhaps filters for types of products. e.g. Application, plugin, training, Sound Library etc... And maybe a search facility.

(Some of it may already have been done haven't looked).

Cheers.

I could not even get on the new site until I clicked a link from another poster and it took me to a "cart" for a product I did not order, as I mentioned earlier, I could not get on the site, but anyway, this cart had all of my information and ready for me to pull the trigger.

I used my SSO and can't get to the site. Oh well.

I don't mind the new look.  I think I prefer the old, but that is only because I am so use to it, I suppose.

Many of my purchases are missing from my account - Several expansion packs, videos,  Ca-2a, PC4K Channel Compressor,  Dim Pro, Rapture, Sonar X1 and Sonar X2 etc.

I have filled out a feedback form.  No doubt it will be all sorted.

My SSO does not seem to work either but I'm poking around to see if I'm doing something wrong.... unless logging into my store account doesn't count.

Also I notice that the Registered Products include my latest purchase of X3 and boxes back in August... BUT... my Order History does not. Whazzup Withhhaaat?

Guys, it's a work in progress, plus like Andrew said, for now, temporally they are hosting their store, etc. at Cleverbridge along with any database that might have to be carried over to the new web hosting until at such time cakewalk can bring it back into their servers and cloud.
As an IT guy, I can understand this kind of stuff, heck, I even have logged in to my account and have noticed some of my products have disappeared. No biggie, I used the feedback form, told them what products I am missing from my account and patiently wait until they get things sorted out.
You have to look over the bridge and see what the final outcome is going to be like. I know when the dust settles and everything is working smooth, I know Cakewalk and their store, etc. is going to be awesome:)
plus, maybe read in between the lines, that they are trying to increase their server capacity, etc. for the upcoming Sonar X4 which might be release on Jan.1 :) :) :)

There is no black and white finish with a system transfer. You have a load of check-lists to tick, you think everything is cool, and you release. Then the real world finds all the bits you missed, and you fix it.

It's only been over a day, give 'em a break, they are probably shattered.

A week or so of fixing is no biggie for accounts that go back years, They all get sorted and they need some feedback to make sure of it.

I have products missing as well, I'm missing S8 and S8.5 but X1 is there while X2 and X3 are missing...
There doesn't seem to be any logic as to what is there and what isn't.
I've filed a feedback report as requested.

I think my new account is missing a couple too:
P5v1 (doesn't worry me have disks)
proteus complete bundle for dimension pro
mp3 activator
lounge lizard lite (don't care about this one either)
softube mix bundle
zeta2
lastly and leastly!!!--- Sonar LE4 1/7/2006

but both accounts old and new have an xtra x3 vanilla from the cakewalk store which I never bought, I did get a copy thru steam and this shows twice in both accounts (even has the cute little steam logo).

Yes I've been to that site but there is no way to access my account from there. I accessed my account from Cake's main page.

However... TODAY I went to my account page and now see the new format. There's Other Products and Additional Products but no Purchase History to see how much I spent like on the old page, tho all my products seem to be listed. I liked having the Purchase History and hope it returns.

My account does not show my sonar x2 producer....the price to upgrade to x3 is $199!!!! Is this true? I thought the price for upgrading from producer x2 to x3 had dropped considerably in price at this time.  Does the store not know I own x2 since it no longer shows up in my account?

So now everyone can see prices in their own currency. This will lead to some interesting comparisons. I need to do some checking, but I'm pretty sure the price includes more than a currency exchange rate. I know Microsoft charges a lot more for Canadian sales than American. Same office product purchased online  was 3 times more than the US price. When we had snail mail they blamed it on shipping costs and storage. I'll follow this closely as the new store rolls out, but I am concerned.

That's a really good point ampfixer! This could be bad news for me too... We have a lot of kooky taxes here- eg if something costs more than 400NZ that tag on an extra 15 percent at the border. Even getting an I lok shipped from slate costs 25 US.

Just got set up with the new store and once again I seem to have lost purchases. A few years back it was the Rapture Minimoog tribute and was told then that when new installers were implemented I should just get in touch. Now, after also purchasing the Rapture Electronic Guitars expansion, it has vanished from my account. Looking at the store it would appear that the two have been combined but I haven't access to it.
I really think it would have been good to keep access to the other store so that we could see what purchases were there prior to looking at the new store because I suspect I am missing more than these two!

Re: New Cakewalk Store coming tomorrow 2014/12/20 09:28:00 (permalink)
So, my forum login is under a different username and uses a different email address than my account login at the Cakewalk store.
Does that mean that SSO is not an option for me?
How can I combine the two, retain my username in the forums and have my purchases show up under that login's credentials?
