Problem scanning in Waves plug insThanks

Has anyone had problems loading / scanning in Waves plug ins to plug in manager?-  (Sonar X1 is what I have. ) I had two running ok and then purchased another. Problems even since...now none of them get recognized when I go through the usual scanning process. Also I get pop up about several others that I don't have licenses for and never purchased, that show up in my vst folder!! A tech guy from Waves is trying to help, but not so far. Thanks   CS

    Yes!

I managed to get the GOLD bundle working in SONAR X3 after moving some files around

However, I have just added VOCAL RIDER and I can't get this to show up in SONAR

Here are details of my fixes and current issues

Please let me know how you get on

Has anyone had problems loading / scanning in Waves plug ins to plug in manager?

Has anyone ever had a drunken one-night stand that ended badly? Pretty much everybody who uses Waves products has experienced installation, authorization or initialization problems at some time.

Sure, some will say "not me!", but their time will come. They'll swap out a network card and the Waves plugins will stop working. Or the plugins will just decide on their own that you don't have a license for them. Or they'll just vanish from your VST inventory. No other vendor has these issues with such regularity. It's a Waves specialty.

Locate a file called  WaveShell-VST {version}.dll. This is what SONAR actually scans. It's a generic front-end for Waves plugins, which actually reside elsewhere. Make sure it's in the scan path(s) for Plugin Manager. If it is, and still not being picked up in the scan, make sure you're running SONAR as Administrator.

When the shell fails to initialize during the scan, it's intentionally obtuse about the reason for the failure. You won't get any kind of message, because Waves is so paranoid about copy-protection they don't want to provide any clues as to why the scan failed. After all, the top priority of any software vendor is to get paid. Delivering something useful for the money is secondary.

When you scan for VSTs, make sure you "Rescan Existing Plugins". That is what works for me every time. Since Sonar actually scans the WavesShell and not individual plugs, if you don't tell Sonar to rescan existing plugins, Waves will not tell Sonar you have new ones.

That has happened to me and I was able to solve it by going back and downloading EVERY waves plugin I have.  Don't skip any, and don't try to download just the missing ones.

    Good luck.

Bitflipper provided the advice that finally ended my drunken one night stand!! with zeroing in on that WaveShell-VST {version}.dll. file as the one to scan - The Waves plug ins were finally recognized by my manager and work fine.

thanks !! (my name has changed to silvercn1) because I had so much hassle (so Waves is not the only one!!) with trying to do the "migration" process for this Forum account, I used a new temporary email address to get a new account....   every time I tried to log in through the Forum account - using a temporary password THEY gave me, the system kept telling me my silvercn was not available.......arg

Ask one of the moderators to reset your password again. No one should have to suffer the indignity of zeroing out their post count!

I sent a PM to Ryan Munnis two days ago with no response about my membership log on problem - is this the usual wait time I wonder?

That's the trick. If you buy a new one you have to instal it and everything you have. You can't just run the new product.

Why can't waves like others do make an ordinary .dll file, without all the extra "junk" as i call it.
no wonder it causes problems now and then...

Sorry ( waves  ), but it is the truth..

and btw i hate those all in one installers.

On my membership issue - I finally figured out that to get around all that migration crap and not being accepted for log in - I just went to my store and was able to get into my old account (silvercn) with that - which then allowed me full access to the Forum, etc...    so no need to wait for a PM response !
