I'm (at least) $0.97 shy of the starting bid.

PffffffFFFt on paying $50k+ for an amp.

If it is such a wonderful amp, why isn't John Fogerty still using it? Hmmmmm?

I wonder how they came up with that very odd starting bid amount?

If you want to see really stupid prices look at Rumble Seat Music's Carmel store online. There's 2 amps of Joe Bonamasa's for sale. They're both Dumbles, and both shoot to the top of my "what were you thinking" list for 2014.

Maybe I missed it - I took a look at the two Dumbles, but couldn't see any prices listed anywhere for them.  Your post made me curious.

One is 100k and the other is 110k. An extra 10k for a boss pedal or summit like that. All because JoBo owns them.

Dumble's always get extremely large price tags ($50k+).  I think it's because the word "Dumb" is right there in the name.

Bigger stars are missing out on a gold mine here.

Buy 35 of the same amp you use (call it $5K each?). Store them for 10 years. Create Certificates of authentication/ownership. Sell them* when their careers have past peak and they are strapped for cash.

*Let's say $100K each. $3.5M before storage expenses. Even more for the family if the rock star has passed.

How could people that well off be so willing to part with that much money for that stuff?

Bob,

I think (something I rarely do) that "being well off" is a major component of the equation.

If only someone had thought to do that with an Alembic, for example
