Scale manager presets for MIDI tracks...

Is there a way to input the preset Scales under Scale manager of MIDI tracks from a previous to latest version of Sonar ?

Like say, I have quite a few Scale presets under Scale manager in my Sonar X1 LE. Now I can of course go ahead and create them all over again in Sonar X1 Producer Expanded. But it would be great if I could bring those presets directly from LE to Producer Expanded in some way.
Where are these Scale presets stored under Windows folders ?

Thanks in advance.

Someone please tell me where these scales are stored as preset files if they are. Once a custom scale is created, I find that it is available for any midi track in any new project within X1 Producer. So it must be saved somewhere. However, the availability of scale preset doesn't directly exist between different versions of Sonar. For example, a scale preset that I created in X1 LE does not show up directly in X1 Producer. But I guess it must be stored somewhere as a file under X1 LE folders which I can bring into X1 Producer. Or does it not work that way.

Can somebody from CW tech chip in to clarify this as it would help if I can directly copy in scales that I have previously created in earlier versions. In fact, this is also very relevant when we move from X1 to X2.

Thanks in advance.

I never used Scale Presets so I don't really know anything about them...

Bbut if you can figure out what format or file extension they use, you can do a search in the top-level folder of X1 LE, no?

Any ways to do this today for X3 Producer, i.e., say, to directly import scale presets from X1 Producer to X3 Producer ?

A quick Google search of the forum seems to indicate this is a unique request. I found the Scale Manager entries in the registry. In X3 Producer, they are stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X3\Scales. There is no migration utility that I know of. Should be able to update the registry with the old version data though, if one were willing to do a little regedit work.

And they'll be in .../X1/... for X1. So...

Export to a .reg file the X1 key
Open .reg file in notepad
Search and replace /X1/ with /X3/
Save file
Import (double click) file to import into X3's settings

Yes, that would do it. Not sure exactly what the X1LE registry entries look like but would expect them to be similar to Producer. I would probably make a backup of the original just in case.

Thanks scook and kperry. Looks like some way out. But I have read some articles in the past about risks in fiddling around with the registry files. Dont wanna screw up my registry system lest I know exactly what I should be doing correctly. Scares the hell out of me to imagine my installations all messed up due to me messing up the registry files. I just havent done this before.

kperry, where should we be importing the registry file into and in the first place, how do we open and view the existing one / ones ? Are there separate files for each installed program ? Any help or directions to any useful articles / tutorials on registry system would be helpful before I even think of fiddling around with it...

Thanks for the insight folks.

The location the file is imported to is defined in the file - so just double click the saved version to import.
