Perhaps good plugs will become more sought after a certain point. But after that, technology will reach a point when plugins will not be used. You just put a helmet on and any sound you can imagine or hope for will happen. Only downside is you lose your mind but it will only boost your creativity. This was a bit strange stuff sorry.

It's sad that certain plug-ins eventually fade away. You almost wish they were made public instead of being pulled, so that people could update them on a voluntary basis.
Disco DSP let go of High Life for a while, and it was made public. I loved that sampler. If not for EXS-24, that's probably what I'd be using.
Sonic Timeworks had a couple of pretty good plug-ins and I dug the TC native plugs.
And how about Cakewalk's Dimension and Rapture... But Cakewalk still sell those. So I guess there is a market for vintage VSTis. :P

As long as there's support for the bits to keep increasing in size (8, 16, 32, 64, 128 etc....roooight James?  ) On another note, Korg''s Legacy Collection has certainly left a lovely inheritance.

I think as long as there's a way to load them then yes. Especially once there are really good DAWs on tablets that don't run Windows/Mac. If they made an Android app that allowed you to use VSTs like a desktop, then I could see older, lower CPU-intensive plugins being awesome.
BTW, totally off subject, this reminded me of a question I've asked a bunch of times (mostly to myself in my head)... When will old apps/games be cleared off the Android Play Store and iTunes App Store? Because you can't tell me that 15 years from now, if these 2 operating systems are still being used, Doodle Jump... The original Doodle Jump... will still be in the top 20 most downloaded apps. Even if it's Doodle Jump 2 or Doodle Jump 8 or Doodle Jump Extreme... Seeing Doodle Jump every time there's a sale in these stores is just starting to get silly. And for the record... Doodle Jump is just a silly example haha, but there are real examples I could list out of games that have been around since my G1 (the first Android phone) that are still right there in the front pages of the Play Store. At some point the old stuff has to go away or something. Maybe put it in a Vintage category only.

I'm going to go against the grain and say no. At least not in the sense of literally loading and using the original files. There's no huge demand for original software copies of Lotus 1,2,3 or Word Perfect Either. Even when we see a small market spring up for vintage software based games on pc or mac platform it is typically for compatibility and not literally a demand that someone reproduce the floppies. As long as donkey kong and pacman play identically to the classic versions, nobody seems to care and these games are typically bundled as an add-on to an attempt at an updated version. With all the trouble we have using 32-bit plugs on 64-bit machines, i can't imagine it's going to be easy to run a 32-bit version of the Delay Lama on that 512-bit touchscreen super tablet. Odds are great that any plugin worth marketing on a broad scale is likely going to be continuously updated, leaving a very minscule niche market for someone wanting to run plugins on an antiquated machine.
