Looking for ideas

I'm a guitar player that doesn't play out, just in 18' x 18' my studio room.  99% of the time I'm either using a modeler, or a DI'd amp (Bugera V22, Blackstar HT5RH or Laney IRT Studio) thru my monitors (Event PS8s).  The other 1% I'm going thru a 4x12 wired 2x12.
 
I'm very pleased with the tone side of things, but sometimes I want a bit more volume for everything, not just the guitar.  I've used a PA in the past, but it ends up boomy and really overkill for the space.  I need volume and the ability to back out of the narrow field the monitors are providing.
 
I recently tried an Alto TS110A.  I like the sound, the 10s keep it from getting too boomy, but they are waaaay over powered for my purpose.  And a pair ends up being $500.
 
So I'm looking for a moderately powered, clean FRFR solution for a small space.
 
Anybody else been thru this?  What are you using?
 
 
 

The Alto's might just be one of the best solutions for the price. You don't need to use the power, the more power the cleaner the sound.
I use Mackie SRM350's in my studio to proof my backing tracks for when I want loud, I also have a small Altec Sub.  
I would think a 10" coupled with a Sub would be a good match to that size room. The Sub would be a way to control the low end without being boomy. If the room is a bad design you'll get standing waves and nothing LOUD will work.
My room is about that size with carpet, slanted ceilings ( 90 and 45)  and a lot of "stuff" that absorbs the sound all around, it's not by any means acoustically treated, it's just works because there are no "wrong" things involved like hard parallel surfaces. 
I was looking at the Alto 10" and found nothing but good reviews about the sound quality being clean and accurate. I ended up with the Mackie only because I got them half price in a store selling off floor models.
