"Ha-ha" patch?

Offhand, can anybody remember coming across a patch anywhere in the included Sonar X3(e) Producer sounds that makes a pitched "Ha" sound when you press a key on your midi keyboard?

I used to have a Korg 01/W that had a library including that sound and I'd like to rerecord a song I wrote that made use of it. It has the effect of sounding like individual voices tunefully laughing in response to the lyrics being sung.

Thanks in advance and Ha-Ha-Happy New Year :)

I didn't find what you asked for but FreezeBreather is a vsti that has some ha sounds I believe. Also there is a vst called the Audience that might work but I did not find it. Or if that is a bad solution perhaps you could sample somebody's ha-sounds or use some ready made samples fron the internet.

Thank you, kakku ! I will have a look for FreezeBreather and Audience. Thank you again for taking the time to check this out and answer.

Two approaches to get yourself a keyable "ha", the 10 second approach and the one minute approach, with an alternative 90 second approach:

    10 second approach
Grab a mic, record your "ha",  bring up a instance of dimension pro, drag the recorded "ha" clip and drop it on dim pro. (You can also drop it on, surprise, drop zone. Or Rapture, or an SI synth.)

The "ha" is now available with a keyboard press, AND it's tuned to the keys (by default). Pick the "ha" note you like best. Low-pitched Yeti or squeaky Chipmunk, you decide. You can, of course, mess with the synth controls and bounce pan it, or echo it, or low pass filter it or distort/mangle it or change it's asdr or whatever, but then you'll run over the 10 second time limit.

[creative 11 second approach: have your friend say "ha ha" into the mic]

    One minute approach:
Don't have a mic? Scour the web for a free laugh (not a silly cat video, I mean one of those myriad free-sound-effect sites), snatch the "ha" that sounds good (that's 50 seconds), then drag and drop the file to a synth as above (the other 10 seconds).

Alternative to the one minute version (90 seconds): Find ANY sound clip on-line that has a "ha" in it somewhere (50 seconds), drag it into the track view in Sonar and splice and edit the clip to isolate the "ha" (30 seconds), then drop the resulting clip on to a synth (10 seconds).

Any of these approaches, even the last, will take much less time than it took for me to write this. Sonar has a LOT of power to do a lot of things.

I tried to get the Freezebreather downloaded but I did not find it. Sorry that I mentioned it. I saw it on Youtube and thought it might be good but seems like it has disappeared. If someone happens to find it please tell the website.

Seems like the website where Freezebreather was is gone to dust but I used the internet timetravel page and was able to get it. Here is one page where I was able to get it. I cannot try the file if it works but at least I was able to download it.

I cannot try the file because I am currently away from a working computer but I believe the file works.

czyky has good advice on using a sampler to serve up a recorded "ha." There may be a problem depending on where you find the "ha" and what you plan to use it for. Your own ha is clearly your own. A sample of something you find randomly on the internet is usually not yours for the taking. Almost everything ever recorded was copyrighted as soon as it was recorded, and sampling even short snippets of recorded material has been found to be infringement. Transforming the sample into something new and better, or even unrecognizable as the original, does not automatically give you a fair use defense. I would recommend you check out freesound.org, which exists primarily to allow artists access to free sound samples. Even there the various sounds are licensed with different creative commons licenses. You can filter your freesound search to look for only CC0 licenses (essentially equivalent to public domain) which you can use for free with no restrictions. They also have a lot of sounds licensed for use so long as you acknowledge the contributor, but providing notice of each of several dozen samples used in your work could make for a pretty busy CD liner.

I've been away from my computer (at my other computer, recording) for a few hours and was very surprised and happy to read these great responses.

Thank you, kakku, for all of your efforts on my behalf.

czyky, I'm off to try "ha" -ing into Dimension Pro. I just hope I understand your instructions. I've never used it as a sampler before. I guess it will become evident where in Dim Pro to drop my "ha" clip when I have the interface open in front of me. Thanks!

slartabartfast, thank you for that sage advice. I would hate to ever infringe on anybody's copyright, so I appreciate the heads-up!
