Dreams Like These - New Music video
Hey Everyone, I've got a brand new music video up for the song "Dreams Like These," also my first track off my upcoming second album. https://www.youtube.com/w...lFAC23hZWR&index=1 This isn't a big production like my "If Only Tonight I Could Sleep" video... I did this one myself using public domain and stock footage (kind of like I did with my "Lights In The Sky" video a couple years ago). I'm very proud of it, and excited to be sharing new music off my second album which should hopefully be done and released by March... All done in Sonar of course. :-) By the time the album is out, hopefully we'll be ready to release our next BIG music video, which is currently in pre-production. Enjoy, and I'd love to hear what you think of the track and video. David

I loved them both...I wish I could do video like you...I know this is all stock CC stuff but you've got a great eye and feel putting your work together. Now let me just say this...this tune is good w/o video but the visuals really take it to the next level so to speak.....I guess for me w/o vocals my mind tends to drift so honestly I dont know how a music only would go over w/me (that's my issue not yours so dont take offense) ...but together...killer.. great job!

Well done again. I am not a fan of a chorusless song but this was good stuff. Video was good too. In my ears the piano melody could have been a bit louder but I listened with Koss Portapro headphones which are not so good.

Excellent song and excellent work on the video too .... enjoyed both. On the song - what did you use for the drum sounds (very snappy and clean)? On the video - so you took various stock videos and edited them into one? What software you used for that? Nice work.

That's good stuff David, I like your music a lot. Video looks great and works well. Do you mind me asking where you source your footage? Just getting into video myself.

Hey thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I'm glad that people are liking this. I feel like I learned a lot about video editing in the process of making it... although I still can't stand video editing haha, but at least I'm getting OK at it. But most of all I'm glad people are liking the track because this is the first piece off my upcoming second album, and I think it's a great representation of how much bigger a lot of the songs are on album #2 Most of the footage is public domain stuff I found at archive.org just like with my last public domain based video "Lights In The Sky" and then some of it (mainly the girl clips, there's 4 of them total that are chopped up and stuff) was purchased at videohive.net. I then chopped things up, changed the blending effects between them, added video effects and transition effects, etc etc. I'm using Vegas Pro 13 to do my editing (found an unregistered copy of Vegas 6 at a garage sale for $5 and then upgraded during a holiday sale for $150 haha. score!)

Really cool work again. Through the cans I found the toms to be too loud and sorry to say it I wanted them to go away. Don't know if it's like this from the monitors. I also agree that the piano melody should be more up front. Other than that I thought this is a top production. Musically interesting and the vid is cool as well.

Thanks Gus! Yea the toms are definitely really fat sounding, but I was kinda going for that on purpose, almost a hiphop kind of thing. I might have to consider bringing the piano up though for the final album version since you're like the 5th person to mention that. Thanks again!

Wow thanks! So glad you liked it. Yea I feel like I really did what I could with stock stuff. Luckily the next video will be a collaboration with some filmmakers so I can give myself some time to maybe come up with some way to do something at least on this level next time I do it myself again haha. :-)

Nice work on editing the video together! Well done. But personally, I actually liked the music/mix better. As mentioned above there's not necessarily any real standard song structure, but I think it still worked. Mix sounds clear and punchy here, great for the style.

I enjoyed the tune and the video was a pleasant distraction, consequently I went back for a second listen without watching the video personally I found it worked better with the video, but that is just my furry subjective view. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! Yea the track is the most important part, so I'm glad people are digging it. But It really does go well with the video. I wish I had the resources and time to make videos for every track on the upcoming album :-) Should have at least 4 videos though by the time I move on to album 3 (jumping ahead of myself here haha). The next 3 will be made by other people though.

I had a listen and was impressed as usual. Very cinematic, and you do the style well. The video was excellent considering your lack of budget and expertise. Great job!

Great job on this David. I know it can be a challenge to find free high quality video..I just completed a film trailer using free video and it took some time even to find simple things I liked that were free or royalty free. I seem to be hearing just a small amount more volume in my right monitor. Maybe it's my setup here...not sure. I think both music and video are good....the music seems faster, and the video seems to be moving slower, even though the frames are likely synced to music changes. IOW if she were moving a bit faster instead of in slow motion it might add more dynamics to the whole....just a thought.

Thanks everyone. Starise, yea I ended up buying a few of the clips you see here, just to further flesh out my vision for what this thing should look like. I couldn't quite make it work with ALL free stuff haha. My last two public domain based videos were all free stuff. I actually played around with speeding her up and slowing her down in places, but that actually made it feel all off and weird... I felt that it worked better keeping the video all slow motion based. At the risk of sounding too artsy or anything, it was kinda meant to juxtapose those crazy hihats and snares with slow motion video to create a cool effect... But thanks for your comments and feedback! I'm glad you liked it. Not sure about the lower volume in one monitor... That might be on your end because I haven't heard that from anyone else and I'm pretty sure it should be level...
