Membership not for everyone obviously :Please see my edit!
So, now we will have to pay for Tech support? So if I stay at X3 no support, that is not good. Sorry but I do not see this as progress. How about the forum, is that still free or do I have to pay for membership to use it? Been with CW since CWPA6 and upgraded "everytime" except once. Can't remember which one. Anyway, I guess I'll Stay with X3 as long as I can still use the forum. I haven't used it much lately but I used to and had planned to start again. Kind of bummed, not about the $$$ either, that part is not the issue with me. EDIT: I did not mention it but I also thought the $499 was the price for the x3 prod owners upgrade to platinum. Also reread the whole deal a few times-I'm in, but not sure if it's Pro or Plat for me , decisions

Yes it will cost you, but it works on a sliding scale. If say scook answers your question, you would have to pay him $10, on the other side of the scale is if Bapu answered your question, he would actually owe you money!

id be interested to hear how many people actually use tech support? i have called exactly once in 9 years and that was to ask for a 64 bit version of MP3 activation. this forum has acted as a fine resource for any problems and communicator with cakewalk. as far as I am concerned if there is a problem with a future update then you are still obviously subscribed for new updates and are thus covered for tech support. If you have a problem months after your subscription has lapsed then it is most probably a machine/user error that cakewalk is not exactly responsible for. there seem to be a bunch of different perspectives on the new purchase model. my take, and as far as cakewalk seem to be trying to make it appear, nothing has changed. it sounds like we will get many more updates for the exact same price, now with the added option of being able to spread out payments.

That is a valid question Pal. If you have nothing to contribute then don't.

Hi Frank good to see your still around. You might want to read throught some of the sticky thread they posted above. It clearly shows me that they are actually offing more value for our money this time around. I think they listened and took notes. They certainly added a few features that a lot of us have been asking for. Like the Mix Recall, that's a biggy for me being a long time Digital mixer user. They are aslo offering way more features and plug ins than ever, I'm going to stay with the middle version again and this time I get Adictive drums for the same price ( $99 ) as last time I upgraded. There is a lot more for less money as far as I can tell looking at the versions. You could get a free version Of Sonar LE and purchase Studio for $149 Think about that!

I don't call either, but I do email and used to use the forum a lot. Just started to again-that is what I meant about tech support. I don't see it as the same -

Technical support was only ever available for the current release. Cakewalk were flexible though as they have had good backup from the forum and haven't been that strict in offering support. Nothing's changed.
