is touch still an exciting prospect
It seems to have a lot of potential.
Are cakewalk developers excited about the future of touch?
I know the cake user community was pretty Luke warm on adoption.
Any touch related changes in this release beyond the control bar?

I think touch is best realized by external input screens like pads and tablets... don't see moving to touch screens placed behind my keyboard/mic...multiple screens in front to reveal everything and tablet control in addition to keyboard/mouse... This I feel is the linkage most usable by all our senses.... With the added benefit of the tablet also having the means of multiple controller apps... all linkable to the daw. And the promise of Mutiple Tablet inputs with mutimonitor sync... lots of promise... And tablets are Cheeeeeeep!

Interesting comment about Intuos. Intuos has been trying to sell "touch" for about 15 or more years. I've been using an Intuos tablet for about that long and can't imagine using any computer without an Intuos tablet at this point. I guess the comment about an upcoming touch-centric feature alludes to the Onscreen Touch Keyboard that is mentioned in the "upcoming" section.

My studio has about 300 lbs worth of pre amps. :-) I haven't weighed the compressors... but it hurts my back to move the rack around. Funny thing is, it's the copper wire cables that add up to weighing the most when I take a studio out on location.

Too many transformers Mike? Lighten up ;-) Touch isn't the answer for everything - just some things. Scroll, expand, knobs and such. Mouse is still better for editing tasks and faders, while nothing beats a keyboard for, you know, writing (like names of songs/tracks). Another tool to make your workflow easier, and the more integrated the touch features are, the better off we'll be. I for one am glad Cake is working on it.

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Thanks Scook. I hadn't seen his response.
I'm definitely excited about touch and glad they are working on it.

Touch is here to stay, it's in your ATM's, big box retail checkouts, Grocery checkouts, tablets, phablets, and on and on.
We'll probably see a bigger migration towards touch in a productive environment once haptic feedback has matured. Not only would a haptic glove prevent the screen from getting all smudged, it could give you the sensation of touching a physical fader.
