how to access Process menu items from the PRV
the keyboard shortcuts like Alt|P|N for transposition do not work when the PRV has focus. To use then I have to switch focus back to the track view. Same for Process|Length and the others. Alt|P|N did work in previous versions of Sonar (I'm not sure when it stopped). Drives me crazy. Is there a workaround or has this been fixed in the new "Sonar"? ddt

Karl, If it is working for you there may be a MultiDock property about passing keystrokes to the Track view that I have not used or you are not doing what I am doing as it definitely does not work. And I sort of understand why. Let me be more specific: - I am running X3e.
- I have a Piano Roll docked in the Multidock.
- PRV has focus
- I have selected several note events
The alt|P doesn't work because the Track View is not in focus. 'N' is responded to and it toggles the smart Grid mode on the Dock. What I really want are keyboard shortcuts that work in the PRV that invoke Process Menu items. I've looked into this in keyboard customization and didn't find anything. Thanks for your response. ddt

I think I'm doing what you are. Open the PRV on a track (Opens in multidock) Select some notes Press Alt+P Press N Make adjustment Click Ok Result for me is Process menu opens followed by the transpose dialogue. Notes move as expected.

I wish that were true for me as well. You are using Win7? There has to be some other option that is passing Alt keystrokes to the menu from the dock. You give me hope that I can find it. ddt

Hi. Yes Windows 7 x64 all round. AFAIK there is no setting for that. It has always worked like that here since the introduction of the mutlidock. Do you have the multidock docked or is it floating?

Isn't it easier to use the d-key to minimize multi dock (if that's where you have your PRV) to get back to track view? When I work on my laptop (with 1 screen) I always use d to pop in and out of multi dock and back to track view. It works great.

Karl, It is floating. I just docked it. That is the answer. When it floats Multidock doesn't send some keystrokes to the Sonar main window. Thanks for talking me through this. ddt

No worries. You may well have discovered a bug though. I have no idea if that is by design but it might be worth reporting. I can't see why it should be different if it is floated as opposed to docked.

I'm still finding my ideal workflow with X3. I stuck with 8.51 through X1 and X2 as they were missing (or I couldn't find) key functionality. 8.51 started acting flakey so about a year ago I took the plunge. It was a little disruptive (a bit like changing cars in the middle of a race) but on balance I am happier (finally, mostly) with X3. Now if I could get PRV track selection to be less clunky I could be quite happy. I have another post on this. ddt

While I would recommend using the docked multidock, if you want a more SONAR 8 experience try dragging the the PRV out of the multidock and disable floating. to get this result
