Exporting As Audio
I am trying to convert a Midi song to Audio.
All my tracks are midi and the file is saved as Format 0.
When I try to bounce to track or export as Audio, I get this message: There is no audio data.
Please help

Are the midi tracks driving soft synths or outboard sound modules?

You need to select both midi and audio tracks if you are using soft-synths to export to audio.
It will generate the audio and output that from the export of both sets of tracks, picking up the audio output from the soft synths through the associated and selected audio tracks.

Is it possible that my Yamaha PSR S950 linked to my PC is causing the problem?
I have only very recently connected them. I am sure it has worked prior to connecting the keyboard.
I'll try disconnecting it and let you know the result.

Have you connected the PSR S950 to the PC via MIDI using an adapter of some kind? (I use a Roland USB to MIDI adapter) If so, here is what I would do. Open your MIDI file in Sonar, making sure that the MIDI outs of all MIDI tracks point to the port the PSR S950 is connected to. In essence, make sure that playing the MIDI in sonar results in the song being played correctly on your PSRS950. Once this has been set up, with the MIDI file still open, create an audio track with record enable on. Connect the line outs of the PSRS950 to the line in of your Audio interface or sound card. Now when you rewind to the start and then play your MIDI file, the signal from the PSRS950 should be recorded onto the track that you have just created. The audio track's meter should bob with the music if you have set this up correctly. Of course, you might have to adjust any levels so as not to clip the inputs to this track. Once you have recorded your MIDI in its entirety and this track contains an audio version of your MIDI, you should be able to export this audio track normally. This is what I do when I want to convert a MIDI file that I have sequenced for a Yamaha SW1000XG to an audio file. I hope this helps.

I get this same message often, like 1 in every 5 times I try to bounce or export. I'm not sure what causes it, but often the fix is as simple as taking the now time to a couple of bars into the song by right (edit: sorry left) clicking a vacant space in the track view, then rewinding to the start using the transport buttons. Another fix is to wind the song to the end then back to the start again using the transport buttons.
It feels like Sonar doesn't find that something is selected, and by moving the now time to a different place and rewinding, this seems to reset the selection process. This fixes the issue every time, and I guess it's become second nature to me now when the issue pops up. I hope it's something as simple for you, anyway give it a try and let us know how you go.

I am using Sonar X3 and Toshiba All In One PC with Windows 10. My keyboard is a Yamaha PSR S950

HAve you tried to do the tutorials that come with Sonar? Those will give you some good ideas about what you can do with Sonar.

if you don't select your "in" + "out" points and select the tracks you want to export it wont work properly and you will receive this message.

I am sure Bouncing Tracks worked previously but I just can't remember how I did it.
