Timing is everything

Hi-

Talk about buyer's remorse! I bought X3 Producer on 12/31 and have had nothing but problems with it (documented elsewhere), only to find out I would've gotten the same deal for the Professional version if I'd just waited a week or so, since I already own SONAR Producer 8.5.3. Oh, well...

Aargh-

    Hi scook-

I'll call them tomorrow. I would really like to see if I can get X3e working on my computer before the new version rolls out. After two of the crashes, the Problem Reporter generated reports and I got confirmation e-mails with CWBRN numbers which said if Cakewalk required more information or had a status update they would contact me.
This is the first version I've had that auto-generated reports and I wasn't sure how long I should wait before I contacted them, but I think now's the time.

@...wicked: Well, that was very sweet! Thank you! I'm really hoping I can get back on board.

Yup - please post threads on the individual issues you are having - perhaps we can help get some/most/all of it resolved for you, as it has been quite a stable release.

Just to make sure.. (since you purchased X3 so recently)
Did you install the latest version of X3? It's X3e. If you haven't try that and see if it helps.

I really think you should be given a special deal on the new Sonar version though. Hope it works out for you.

There's a $50 difference between "I own another version of Sonar Producer"  and  "I own X3 producer."  but only during the discount offer period. Then all Sonar Producer owners will pay the same.
So your out of pocket what ever you payed to upgrade from 8.5 minus the $50 for now.

Not to sound like a jerk, but I think it was pretty clear that there was a new version coming out and that it's always been this way. It is wise to upgrade at the beginning of a new release, not at the end of it's cycle. Most users have gotten their value out of X3 over more than a years use.
Such it is with all software. But look on the bright side, you can use Sonar x3 for ever and ever. It's a good version to own, just like 8.5 which I still have installed.
I'm not sure what your problems are but as Bob and the gang are saying , keep posting your issues and it can be solved, we never give up without a fight!

Hi Susan.  Have you worked this out with Cakewalk?  I sure hope they took care of you.  They offered a free upgrade for those who purchased the current version late before.  But I have also read a post by Cakewalk stating that they will not make such an offer because, "...have already received the discount..." when making the purchase for X3.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Loptec-

Yes, I'm on X3e. I don't want to jinx it, but I've been taking baby steps and auto-saving every few minutes and I haven't had a full-on crash in a couple of days.

    Thanks-

    Hi johnnyV-

I've used Cakewalk software since the early DOS days and I typically upgraded through every version, but I didn't have the hardware to handle the X series, so I stopped at Producer 8.5.3. I wasn't keeping up with the upgrade cycle. I know it's wise to upgrade at the beginning of a new release, but I couldn't because I didn't have the hardware to handle it.

I'm sure you don't mean to sound like a jerk.

    Thanks-

Hi Susan!  It's great to see you are still around!!  I haven't been making much music (or participating in the forums) since 8.5, but I decided to jump back in just after Christmas...Timing was everything with me as well, but my procrastination was, for some odd reason, rewarded...I was lucky because when I went to purchase X3 on Jan 2, the price had gone up (from $79 to $199) because I had missed the 60% off promotion, good through the new year.  So I decided to check in with the fine folks at Cakewalk and see if I couldn't finagle a deal with my (always) benevolently-intentioned manipulative charms.  Well, I got an e-mail back saying I could have the $79 upgrade discount if I wanted, BUT did I know there was a new Sonar releasing shortly?  So I decided to wait and see what was what with this new version, and Sonar Platinum is downloading as we speak...

    See you around!
