Change the Rules (of the game)

Haven't really posted any songs yet, so figured I'd go ahead and post the latest draft resulting from creating some nice track templates for Spitfire's Albion... As I'm trying to work in Orchestral's to my vocals/music, templates have made it all a lot more fun....Also, just acquired most FabFilter plugs which are helping me improve my mixes... at least this one is much hotter and cleaner than pre-fab...

This is a simple loop using Skippie's Mega Macho Drums (lazy, I know...but it was a one night effort), one track of U-he's Diva, an Arp from Arpology, and several tracks from Albion's Iceni and Albion.

Three vocals... still needs a Rush like guitar which I'm not so good at...thinkin' of finally learning shreddage in the next go around...

The theme is: We live in an artificial "capitalistic" structure incompatible with the planet and current laws of the universe.... We're in the middle of a "great grab" and must change this paradigm to survive...

What a cool voice - I really like how you lean into your phrases.  This song has that big-new-80s kind of production, dig it.  I think you could substitute a synth solo for shredding guitar if you're more comfortable on keys or find the right sound.

My critique here is that after the first chorus the song feels a little undefined in the middle, the lyrics work with the sounds to establish the theme, but musically or melodically things loose a sense of urgency that's there more in the beginning.  Still, some interesting forces at work...

It sounds OK here but it needs a middle 8 or something to break it as noted by jonboper, perhaps a section where you break it down or a change to the relentless drum track.

John and Wookie... thanks and really appreciate the feedback... it was an initial nights splert, trying to exercise the templates and just having fun with an idea derived from a C-Realm podcast entitled "the great grab".  Scratched out some words, got the Arp going and winged it...Surgery is definitely in order as the theme and basics feel good.

I'm very crappy on drums... often use Damage and dm307 riffs but wanted to begin playing with Skippie's package.  Gotta put in the time as it is pretty boring. And you're right, the second section is weak... what comes from just jamin' on an idea.  That lull needs something. hmmmm. The issue deserves the "sense of urgency" that you mention, Jon.  Also thinking it might benefit from an increase in tempo from 120 to 130ish or faster...

Shreddage is my next adventure.  My hands ain't so good anymore for live playin' and I've gotten away from guitar and never put in the time to really learn all the vguitars I've acquired when I've got a bit of cash...Plan on adding Greg's Stratosphere, as it looks really intuitive and might give me a means of achieving that Rush sound...

Lots of homework to do but I so love that X3 is finally the platform which encourages creation rather than head scratching!  Thanks again for the feedback.  It's what I need most!

To be alive at this time with sooooo many wonderful tools...

I like your voice better than Axl Rose's . . . can't wait to see where this one goes.
Maybe some Oingo Boingo-ish percussion breakdown section for variety?
    Marimbas going nuts?
