dantarbill You think they are the lucky ones. They are actually the canaries in the coal mine that drop dead before you do.
True - so chirp chirp... Well, so far so good. Installed. Migrated old settings and moved synth & fx menus from old install. Tried running a few VSTi's ok. Also got the ad2 adpaks down ok. Scanner complained on rematrix and wanted me to disable, not sure why, but I've ignored it for now.

...wicked I got an invite but the link brings me to a $199 page that doesn't change when I get to the final checkout page. So....no dice for me.
Hi ...wicked. Looks like you had 17 products missing from your new account. I just migrated them over which should fix your upgrade pricing. Can you click the BUY NOW link again (don't simply refresh the page)? It should now reflect the proper price in your cart. Sorry for the trouble!

Bill Jackson [Cakewalk] It isn't alienation. We're launching a lot of new systems pretty simultaneously... new store, new delivery system/installer, new authorization scheme, etc. Dipping our toe in the water is for your benefit. We're being rather thorough, but if the unlikely scenario where something goes terribly wrong occurs, we'll be able better manage/repair it with 20 new customers vs a million. It's not exactly a "test launch" - but it's helping us be confident before releasing to the whole world. I hope you understand. Hmm, that was probably just hyperbole, but in another thread just today I was wondering how CW can stay in business with charging only $150 per customer. If it's anywhere near 1 million customers, well then we know how...

I don't have any problem whatsoever with some Cakewalk customers being 'more equal than others'... AGAIN. That is, of course, providing that the 12 month membership of each of the 'lucky 20' actually started when they downloaded it? Hang on a second, I haven't checked my emails for a couple of hours, I might have been blessed with a golden ticket... ... in which case, if I have, I'll be deleting this post before the ink's dry. Oh bugger. Thanks Cakewalk

cclarry I think this "early / random" thing is a disgrace to Cakewalk/Gibson....
"who" decides? You KNOW it's NOT random....that's ludicrous...
Alienation of "paying customers" isn't a "good business model" sorry to say....Bad Cakewalk....BAAAAD Cakewalk...
Everyone should be treated "equally" ...not some (barf) "random" lottery that decides who get's to upgrade FIRST...
Just my thoughts....
The only thing that is truely random is the invention you hear on the internet... And now some dancing cats... BTW The greys are coming (I too have no evidence to back this up which MUST mean it is true!!!!)

Just installed Sonar Platinum. The download/installation was so much faster/easier than previous versions. Downloaded and installed in a fraction of the time X3 took. I had to change the default path for my Project Files in Preferences, but everything else seems to have migrated successfully. Just loaded an X3 project to play around with, and everything is behaving well. I will post back when I have had a time to try it out more. Out of interest, I noticed there seem to be more Gibson instruments in the Track Icon folders..

That's probably just a function of the "20 new customers vs a million" thing. The rest of us might have a different experience.

"Scanner complained on rematrix and wanted me to disable, not sure why, but I've ignored it for now." No one else with this problem? If I keep it enabled menuitem in prochannel is "blank" but has "REmatrix Solo-64" name. If I insert it in prochannel Sonar crash. Same problem in X3. Tried reinstalling platinum but that didn't change anything. Were going to mail tech support but there X3 is the latest version to select for report, and I'm too tired to explain. It's past 02:00 in the night here so sleep now...

Just got the invite a few hours ago, I haven't had a chance to do much more than load some X3 projects, but everything has opened fine and played. The download and install was painless, about 10 minutes for everything. I haven't installed AD2 yet (I already have the full AD2) but need to grab the adpaks, etc, as soon as I figure out which ones I want, and I already had most of the rest installed from X3. Dan

I am up and running here. It is very pretty. So far the only hiccup I have come across is that my Melodyne essential from X3 did not migrate. After installing the new one, still no Melodyne. One the up side, the vocal sync region effect is incredibly easy and efficient, and I am really enjoying the control bar mods. All X3 projects opening up without issue. Question for smart people: is there a way to find/save/reuse the plugin layouts that you have saved from X3?

Greeny I wish I was one of the lucky ones, I dont see why some customers can buy today and some can't is my money different?
It seems like longevity factors into it. And I don't see a problem with that. Maybe CW feels the long time users (and upgraders) would be better to test the system with. Or maybe parts a perk for upgrading 20+ times. I have no inside info, just my thoughts on the post and situation.

Been out in my cottage studio downloading for the past half hour... at 36%... you think having four housemates/urban farmers all streaming netflix or whatever at the same time has anything to do with it? (BTW, not a serious question) ok... 32 minutes later, up to 67%... boy, it's Friday night... doesn't anyone go out anymore.... hope the movies are awesome! Oh well, they do wonders for my mortgage! And I like the latest video playback system built into the command center! I assume I skip Melodyne Essential as I have upgraded to Editor...

Well, somehow I lucked out and was just able to download and install Platinum. Installation went very smoothly so far, although I haven't installed all of the extra content. I haven't really dug in deep yet, but I'm pretty freakin' impressed with the new layout - the new modules are very cool, especially the way you can manage them. The way inserts and sends are handled is much improved. It's gonna be a fun weekend! I'll report back after I spend some time with it. Mix recall will be getting a bunch of use.

Having installed New Sonar Platinum a few hours ago, all I can say after messing about with it for much longer than I intended (it's 4am here....) things look pretty good so far. Download was straightforward, not as fast as some here are saying but that might be because our ADSL bandwidths are different, or because we're on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Or jsut because. In any case it seemed to pretty much max out the ADSL bandwidth most of the time. Once downloaded the actual install was much faster than the old "click on the installer then go on holiday while it unpacks everything" system.
Third party plugins I've tried (some Waves, Overloud, Jamstix very briefly just to check it loaded) seem to be working as intended. The new control bar is much more like how it should always have been, Rematrix sounds very good. I'd actually have bought the upgrade just to get those two things plus the changes to the sends gui.
Haven't hit it with a big project or really done much besides load up a few stereo tracks I'm giving the finishing/mastering touch to though. Only downside so far is that the CCC thing hasn't picked up that I already had Dim Pro installed and a custom installation can't be customised enough. No option to choose individual plugins, only "suites" of them which means I've had to install quite a few I'm unlikely to ever use just to get the ones I do use.
Sonar Platinum 64bit, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, I7 3770K Ivybridge, 16GB Ram, Gigabyte Z77-D3H m/board, ATI 7750 graphics+ 1GB RAM, 2xIntel 520 series 220GB SSDs, 1 TB Samsung F3 + 1 TB WD HDDs, Seasonic fanless 460W psu, RME Fireface UFX, Focusrite Octopre. Assorted real synths, guitars, mandolins, diatonic accordions, percussion, fx and other stuff.

I've found the solution for the rematrix scanning problem I mentioned above, and as it's not an impossible scenario for someone else I thought I might post it. REmatrix had installed the ir's to a shared folder path on C:, but my user paths are on E:. As soon as I had moved the overloud folder scanning worked. I'll let Cakewalk tech support know as well.
