It's been asked before, but for refreshed clarity - Addictive Drums 2 - need to install?
I have Platinum up and running. I haven't yet installed Addictive Drums 2 Producer. I'm hesitant because I have a fully purchased version of Addictive Drums 2 already. Why would I want to change it to the Producer version? Do I have to install that to get the 3 modules? Why a separate Producer version, when some / a good share of us X3 Producer users probably already had upgraded to Addictive Drums 2 already?
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Hello Lawajava, The producer "version" is just the extra kts, midi packs and instruments. It does include the Engine... but with that said if you get the serial number and log into the xln installer ; At that point you can register the Producer packs and the XLN installer will do the rest for you. No need for a full reinstall. IHTH

There is no Producer version. What we get is the Producer Bundle. This let's you choose 3 drum sample packs or Adpacks I think they call them. You also get to choose 3 midi packs and 3 of the individual kit pieces. So this let's you expand your Addictive Drums with more sammpled drum kits and more midi packs. This is an incredible deal. There has been little talk about this but this is the best third party sftware add-on I remember seeing. It normally sells for $250.00 and this isn't a trimmed version of something. This is such a high quality, useful add on. Thank you Cakewalk.
It's Bass, not Bass. i7 2700K, 16GB DDR3, 2 SSD sample drives and OS drive, HDD SATAIII for projects, 2 24" monitors Focusrite Saffire Pro 24, Focusrite VRM Box, LAVA Lamp, SONAR Platinum 64 bit, Mackie MCU and 1 MCU XT, Akai Advance 49, Windows 10, Komplete 9 Ultimate, Cakewalk, Toontrack, IK, AAS, XLN, UVI, Air Music Tech, Waves Factory, Sample Tek and Sonivox VSTi's. Overloud, T-Racks, Audio Damage, D16, Nomad Factory, Waves Gold FX

Oh it's been talked about, it is the main reason I jumped on this. I only have AD1 which was included when X3 came out, so this is a no-brainer for me. Now there are 2 camps of people here who aren't thrilled with XLN in general, but the most vocal are those for only having access to the "sound engine" in AD2. Google it for some posts here.

Thanks for the info. I don' t think I'll look it up though. I've seen all the knucklehead, negative posts in the last few days INeed. How do you have someone give you a $250.00 software bundle and find something to beef about? The quality of Cakewalks third party add ons is amazing.

Hi - I have a question related to the Addictive Drums 2. I have x3 Producer currently. When given the opportunity to get the new Sonar 2015, I may bite. In the meantime: So, there are a few kits built into AD1. It looks like with the Producer Bundle, you get to pick 3 AdPaks. Looking at the AD website, it shows a few kits in the AdPaks list that are listed like this: Studio Rock is one of the original Addictive Drums kits Does that mean s kit that was included in the original AD1? When getting AD2, can you transfer the old kits from x3 and then add your 3 new AdPaks? Are there any drums included in AD2 prior to adding these AdPaks? I'd like to know these things so I'd have an idea of what AdPaks I'd choose to add to the list rather than getting something that I already would/could have from my existing version. Please share your thoughts/understanding.

About the Producer Bundle... It lets you pick any 3 ADpaks, any 3 MIDIpaks, and any 3 Kitpiece Paks ...
Thanks for the link. My connection/history to Sonar Producer suggested to me that Addictive Drums Producer was a special edition for Sonar Producer users. But seeing that link I see it's an actual Addictive Drums offering, and a great value for all of us getting Platinum. This was a helpful link/post. Thanks!

I bought AD2 upgrade from XLN Audio. I was told by XLN staff that, yes, I can buy AD Pack which will include the AD2 Engine as a part of a pack for free but it will NOT update the existing packs that I already had for AD1 to be used on AD2. I understand that what ever comes with Sonar are 3 AD packs that will include the AD 2 engine but they will not upgrade existing AD1 packs.
