New OS drive re-org, 64-bit plugs

Going Platinum has inspired me to redo my OS drive. That said, I have 64-bit plugs from 8.5-X3 and other programs (AD, BFD, Komplete, etc) that I want to organize efficiently. My first thought is to make a VST folder in the root of C:\ and then break in to sub folders of 8.5, X1, X2, X3, Platinum, Komplete, AD, etc.

Anyone have suggestions or can share how they do this or any potential pitfalls ?  I'm lean, clean and mean on Win7 64 Enterprise running as Admin.

This may be heresy, but I'd suggest starting with Windows 8.1

You will have to face that at some point.

I'm not going to 8.1 (always do every other with the OS). I would have to replace my FW-1884, and I'm not doing that. All tests for DAWs I have seen, have shown there isn't a marked improvement to justify it. I can easily get another year + out of this configuration, which will get me to Windows 10.

Let's just stick to structure. I doubt that will change.

No suggestions? Not even from the Mighty Garrigus?
