Laptop install bottom line

I have a very powerful Asus Hi Def laptop. OS drive is Samsung Hi end SSD380 or something close GB. Also took out the optical drive and installed an SATA750GB Seagate drive-2.5" of course. I am so used to using OS drive (SSD) sample drive SATA and audio drive SATA-3 drives. So I was going for an ext USB 3.0 drive for my sample drive/

I would rather partition the 750GB Seagate 2.5" and use 1 partition 400GB for audio and the other partition 300GB for samples.
I have plenty of speed and 16GB hi end ram also
Will that work ok?

Thanks
Strat

Don't partition. It will slow your HD down. Think about it you will be accessing the same HD whether its 1 or 2 partitions.

So since I have more than one ext USB3.0 HD"S(3 are 2.5", but only one is SSD) I probably should just use an external for samples? Yes? No?
This is for the times I record or play somewhere other than my home studio - not all that often but it does happen. Played a friends wedding last week.
It was fun. Just me and the machines.

I really missed the regular folks here like you John, Bapu, Susan, John V and many others.
I am really diving back intowriting and recording with Platinum

Hey Bapu, Actually my sample drive only has 101.6GB on it. I think mostly because I concentrate on  Drums, bass and keys for samples. That's what it's loaded with.

Besides full Kontakt 5 and Dim Pro and Rapture and Zeta newest I have and Use:

Drums: Steven Slate Plat 4, EZ Drummer 2, Session Drummer 3 and I guess now Addictive 2
Bass: All the Scarbee Basses-they work great for me. The Rickenbacker is a killer, just got that not too long ago.
Keys: Here I am lacking a bit-All the keys in Kontakt 5 and True Piano Sonar version only.

You have to remember-I don't record other other bands or anything, only myself.

Certainly don't need any type of guitar samples, I can cover any and all guitar stuff. I do have EZ Keys Piano essentials but haven't gotten into it.

    Anyway

    Thanks
