Is new SONAR available in the UK yet?
Yes, I know I should be able to find the answer myself, but when I click through "buy now" I get dropped on a page headed "coming soon" that invites me to register for pre-sale information. I'm wondering whether this is right, or whether it's a spurious routing caused by the little problem that I have, whereby I now have two separate CSSO accounts .

Not released yet. The invitation is to go into a draw where random members are selected to buy pre release. This is helping with testing all the new systems as well as giving those of us lucky enough to picked a chance to get into Sonar before anyone else and give feedback to the masses as well as report any bugs or glitches.

Aah! Thanks, Mike. I think I'd prefer to let other volunteers nobly take the initial pain, then.

Hi Christopher I contacted Etcetera in the UK last week and they told me that they would not be supplying it as Cakewalk had indicated to them that it would now only be available via download. As even if they did sell it all they would be a code to allow a download. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

I'm sorry that Etcetera are dropped as they have always been quietly reliable as well as good value. Cakewalk presumably no longer has need of that kind of channel and life goes on.

Hmm ... I read the eulogy too soon. But if 159GBP is the equivalent to the 149USD that's mentioned on Cake's website, we are getting ripped of more than ever. The old arguments about UK being an expensive market to service are not true at all, if ever they were. I don't think that I'll rush into this upgrade.

I've dealt with Etcetera in the past and have had no problems with them whatsoever. Christopher, I raised the matter of pricing with Musicmatter, quoting their "Match Price" facility and they informed me that: - Because Cakewalk are in the US they couldn't do anything about it
- Cakewalk are are also in the beneficial position of being the manufacture and can therefore offer a lower price
- Musicmatter are only making £7 profit
- Offered to cancel my order allowing me to deal with Cakewalk directly
Quite honestly, I didn't cancel and have allowed the transaction to go through. I'm guessing there is a small premium by ordering the physical media as opposed to the download (I like having the discs available)

Not sure you'll get the discs though. Scroll down to where it says "What's in the Box" and all that's listed is a download card and manual.

I had the email and the cost via CW was a reasonable £118.80 which equates to $1.5 to the £ plus 20% VAT. You might get the invite any day, so hang in there!

Yup, I pointed this out in another thread about this a few days ago. Makes it a heck of a premium over buying exactly the same thing from CW.

Could it be $149 + local UK vat .. especially now with that new EU VAT/MOSS thing that came into being on 1st Jan 15?? VAT in EU is now paid at the rate of the purchasers country NOT the rate at the country the seller is in - thank Apple, Google, Amazon etc for that one. The few fk it up for the many once more. They were selling from the lowest VAT rated country in Europe - Luxembourg.

$149 is roughtly £100. plus 20% vat would still only be around £120, so at £159 somebody somewhere is bumping the price up a fair bit if it's still a download.

i asked on the main thread re UK pricing for the monthly Platinum deal (X3 upgrade) which is $14.99 pcm - add 20% VAT and exchanging on xe.com it was £11.86 - was informed it'll be £11.90 via CW shop. so finally a realistic price. if you buy upfront from jrr even better tho!
