Native Instrument and Sonar?

Hi All..

I have just been writing a track using mostly NI stuff and using the Kontrol S61.
Experiencing some nasty issues here.

I can't record the Pitch or Mod wheel automation from the S61 without Sonar crashing (X3e)

My Hunch is that there is a driver issue between the the two entities.

I am using the Kontrol purely as a midi keyboard (In Sonar) with an instance of Reaktor using Monark, I set "automation write to be enabled" go and record and then nothing, yet then I move the controls via mouse on the controls of Monark and it records the automation but then I hit undo (as it was a test) and Sonar bombs out on me, every time I do this I am l left with an instance  of the Sonar process running in the background for each instance and I then have to reboot to rid the process cache.

But then upon reboot it bombs out the same.

I have also noticed then that all the sample rates change and I get the nasty clicking of OS vs DAW, so...go to control panel and reset defaults but Sonar still will bomb out.

I Have noticed some conversation on this forum between Cakewalk and NI being mentioned (New Platinum release and Kontakt)

Can I have some assurance that the two companies are in a decent conversation about compatibility? I mean, this is clearly a driver issue and probably not a Sonar issue at all, but it would be nice to know that NI and Bakers are talking.

In the meantime I am left extremely frustrated especially as I have just taken a week off work to do a music project and can't use my tools to their full use.

As always, this isnt a gripe, just experience.

I have to say a thought.

A DAW is like a musicians OS. Its hosting various apps.
Now I know the Bakers cant be on top of every new bit of kit out there but I am slightly concerned that as Sonar are a small team they arent being listened to by NI.

    Its a worry for me.

I have had dreadful customer service for what its worth by NI and especially with this Kontrol series (I wont go into it) so the problem is more than likely with NI BUT....it leaves the customer that wants the latest kit in a very tight spot and its simply not good enough.

Do the Bakers get to beta test thoroughly NI stuff with regards to drivers, usability and integration?

meanwhile my latest artistic expression has been thrown out the window by endless crashes and technical musings which arent conducive to being in the zone of artistic freedom.

    right, singled out the problem.

Anti Virus kicked in when I was recording Mod+pitch bend wheel and despite MANY reboots and a system restore continued to block out the comms between Sonar and my Sound Card drivers.

Disabling AV got my project up, the only way I could troubleshoot this was by doing a system restore and seeing an error that my system couldnt, this means that AV was locking up certain files.

Soooooooooo, a home user (even a pro home user) will nearly 9/10 have Virus protection, so why dont these things get beta tested? Why are drivers flagged as a virus?

Surely this isnt cool in this day and age?
