Authorization File?
I've installed Sonar Platinum using the Command Center. No problem there.
Where can I find the authorization file so I can back it up in case I need to reinstall while offline?
Does this file even exist if I installed with Command Center? If not, can I generate one in case I need it later?

You don't get one when using the command centre it's all transparent and automatic.
The only time you need one is if you are going to install offline in which case you download the installers from your account, do the installation as per previous versions and then using the tool within Sonar enter your serial number and request your authorisation file.

Thanks. That's what I figured, but I wanted to have a backup of the file in case I can't get online and need to reinstall. I guess I'll figure that if the situation comes up. Here in the US there's a TV ad that runs about a cable company. There's a woman calling the cable company support line complaining that her Internet is down. The guy on the other end says "your Internet is down?! You need to send an email"........lol Just trying to avoid a situation like that. I know Toontrack lets you download your authorization files for your machine. Thought there might be something similar here.

Heh. In my office we all went to VOIP type phones that run thru our computers. So the computer has to be working to use the VOIP. If you're computer goes down, there is a number you're supposed to call to get it fixed. Anyone see the flaw in the system?!

You can go to your account and download from there and do an offline installation. Using your serial number you then get a form which requests your authorisation file which is then sent to you. That would give you a kit of all things you'll need for your offline install including authorisation.

Download Sonar, start the program, and click on "help" in the toolbar. In the dropdown, you'll see "offline activation". Click it, then click "export authorization request", and it will put a request file on your desktop. Put that file on a USB stick, and take it to an online computer. Go to your account section on Cakewalk's site. Click on "activate". It will say "choose file". Double click the request file from your USB stick and hit "submit. Cakewalk will put an authorization file in the download folder. Save that to your USB stick and take it to your offline computer. Open Sonar, click "help", then "offline activation", then "import authorization file". Select the file you received from Cakewalk, and import it, and you're done. Hope that helps.

This is very similar to how IK operate their downloads. My only problem with this was when I was activating ten different Singles plugs, with my offline DAW upstairs and the online pc downstairs. Yes I did them all one at a time  that was the best cardiovascular workout I'd had for a LONG time.

I'm aware of the above procedures. The problem is there is no "offline activation" in the help menu if you installed with Command Center so it seems I can't generate a "authorization request" unless I uninstall, disconnect from the Internet and reinstall. What I was looking for was a way to get a copy of the authorization file for a backup. It would just make me feel more secure if I knew I could do a reinstall if I had no connection to the Internet. That situation may never come up, but you never know. Things have ways of happening. I'll think about doing the uninstall. It's just that it's installed, up and running and things seem good. I hate to mess with it.

Okay try going to your account page without using command center. You should be able just to download the Sonar file, right?

I was looking for a way to get a backup authorization file.
I'm interested as well. I plan on downloading and installing manually. But would use CC if there was a way to also get the activation file.
