Sonar Platinum track icons disappeared
My track icons disappeared in both the track view and the console view. Then I tried right clicking so I could add the track icons back and the menu would not even appear. I restarted - same thing. Operating System - Windows 10, PC is an HP, no more than a few months old.
How do I get the track icon menu to come back? What am I missing? I am not as advanced as some of you are with PCs, but I am also not a dummy about them. This is my first post - most of my problems I have had I figured out. But this simple issue is driving me nuts. Your help would be appreciated!

Make sure you are pointed to the right path in Preferences. Also, you can try deleting the picture cache. I'm not at my PC, so I can't be more specific....

Try Views-->Icons-->Show Icons. If it is already selected deselect it then select again.

you may also have a program running on your PC that associates the icons. possibly taking control of all similar icons (.png, exc) on your PC. though this is rare, if you run out of options it might be something to check out.

As far as the menu is concerned, have you been hooked up to dual monitors and switch back to single recently?

Tried that - under views the word Icons no longer appears. It's just not there. My first thought was - ok, did I click on some setting by mistake?

This seems like it might be the issue - it was just like out of nowhere - the icons disappeared from the track/console view and I cannot get the menu to come back that gives me the options to add the icons back. I will have an update later today.

Did you install upgrade anything recently? You can try rolling back... Or maybe a Windows system restore. Did you check to make sure the Icon Folder is still in the right location? Sometime while I am working, especially with Window Explorer, I will accidentally drag a folder into another....

I have not checked to see of the icon folder is in the right location. But even if it were in the wrong place shouldn't I be able to right click where the icons would be (track/console view) and get the menu that comes up to choose track icons? That no longer happens any more. I did a windows update in August - but had no issues until last night. What is the path for the track icons folder? Just in case (but I doubt I moved the folder - but just in case).

Okay, I'm still not at my computer and i just can't remember the exact layout of the configurations but if you go to Preferences/Folders in Sonar, there will be file paths for different system folders. You want to make sure the icon folder, and its contents, are still intact...
The problem is, everyone has a different configuration so there is really no correct location I can give you. For example, on my installation, I placed the Cakewalk Contents in a separate partition on my System Drive. But...in Sonar Preferences, I'm pretty sure there is a pointer for the Icons Folder that needs to be pointed to the Icon Folder.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I can't remember...and I am away from my computer... I know their is an assignable path for the Pictures Cache, as well, which you can delete, which will force Sonar to create a new folder, in the event it is corrupt....

Thanks Musicman762. Everyone has been extremely helpful on here and not made me feel like a dummy. Started out recording on a Fostex reel to reel years ago, moved to a 4 track, then in the 90s to stand alone digital recorder. Had Sonar since last February and I keep learning more and more. But this *%# track icon thing has me all kinds of frustrated. Those help visually when you bounce tracks (with plugins) and the archive the original tracks.

Ok, after all that - it was a simple fix. I went to the top of the Sonar window where it has File, Edit, Views. Clicked on Views - went to the bottom of the popup menu and it says Icons. Clicked on that - then Show Icons and clicked Track View, then clicked on Show Icons and did the same for Console view. So, I know how to create real sounding vocal harmonies in Melodyne, bounce to tracks, mixdown, how to set up Track Templates, set up AD2 on separate tracks and tons of other things, and get stuck on a rookie mistake like showing track icons. Feeling pretty stupid right now!

Yep! It happens. Someone suggested that earlier...
