Weird Crash with a work around!
I've been working on one song for about 3 weeks (longer then usual, but bought some new plug-ins and instrument software that I had to study), and when I thought I finished it, (the first mix sounded pretty good), I wanted to add a synth part to one section.
I inserted a new MIDI track, and recorded the section. When I hit stop, the screen turned into the white screen of death, and music kept looping. I had to turn OFF my Sonar Studio V-100, closed Sonar X3e, and reboot the computer. Tried this a couple times with the same results.
When I installed Sonar Platinum, I wanted to see if the problem remained suggesting an corrupted X3e. Same results.
I checked all the settings in other MIDI channels previously recorded (they were all muted after converting to audio tracks) and everything looked okay.
I also tried a different keyboard, with the same results.
I then saved the file to "JUNK", and started to remove tracks. I first removed all the muted tracks, and inserted the new MIDI track that I was trying to record to. Same crash.
After rebooting I opened up the original project, again saved it to "JUNK" and eliminated the muted tracks and all the Addictive Drum tracks and got the same results.
I finally removed all the tracks and now I was able to record on the new MIDI track. (Note: In this case I had saved the new MIDI track to "JUNK" before the crash)
I then tried a different experiment. I saved the original project to "JUNK", did NOT remove any tracks, and added the new MIDI track with all the settings. This time though, I did not record. I closed Platinum, and reopened it. Now I was able to repeatably record the new MIDI track. "All's Well That Ends."
Has anyone seen this behavior.
Walt
UPDATE: For giggles, I tried adding another MIDI track w/o saving, closing and reopening Sonar. Crash. Tried again, this time saving, closing, and reopening, and it did not crash.
Tried another old project, and I could add a MIDI track, record and not crash.
Therefore it appears that this one project got corrupted. At least I'll be able to do a final mix/master. Hope this helps if anyone else has this happen to them.
