Fully-damped Drums: Possible with AD2?

I've been searching for this type of sound for a while, sort of like what Ringo did in his 'tea towel' days. Fully-damped drum sounds without any ringing whatsoever, just good solid hits.

I previewed all the AD2 AddPaks and walked away with Black Oyster, Session and Vintage Dry, the three that sounded to my ear to have the driest sounds with the least ringing.

So, from here do I just need to compress or is there something else I need to do as well?

Second question: Is there a way to use the MIDI from EZD loops with AD2 sounds?

You might try editing the amplitude envelope for each drum you want to dampen.
I do this for kicks when I like the sound but want to get rid of the ringing.
Play around with shortening the envelope.

After you get the envelope where the drum is sounding damped, EQ out some of the high end.

I used the Vintage Dry kit on this song and found it was great as is. Is this sound you're looking for?

    Yup! That's it. Thanks!

I can hear there's absolutely no Beatles influence in that song.

Thanks, microamp. There are a few songs I've already lost the original MIDI for or did them in EZD, so this technique will come in handy to tame those.

I used to use Rings Beat Kit in Session Drummer...I know you asked about AD2.  I used a Fairchild VST and then used a shelf eq and rolled off about 3db down to 2khz.

Many thanks Joel! I was aiming for an affectionate homage to the Beatles. Now if only I could go back in a time machine to 1967 I reckon I'd have a hit!

Thanks, Kiosk, but I don't have Kontakt. The price of the kit is reasonable, but to buy Kontakt just for this one kit is far beyond how far I'm willing to go, if you know what I mean.

Also remember you can EQ each kit piece individually in the AD patch editor.

The free version doesn't play the Tea Towel kit. At least, that's what I was told. Have you tried it?
